The Blue Moon Awards-Who We Are, What We Do and What We Don't Do This program was created to hold up and shine a light on the more adult side of Stargate SG-1 Fandom. Often these works are politely overlooked or outright banned by other awards programs. Your hostess is Moon Mistress long time author of Daniel Jackson/Original Character Adult FanFiction along with a smattering of other authors of SG-1 Adult FanFiction as staff. We are a bit different from other programs...as some of you have already noticed...on several levels, one of them being that we have no 'committee' and no 'judges' associated with this program. This is because we want to know what you, the Fandom and the General Public, likes rather than gently herding you toward what we like. As such, ALL nominations for ALL works by SG-1 fandom creators are eligible for this program whether adult in content or not. The extent of our 'judging process' is thus:All nominations are looked at, each video watched, each piece of art viewed and each work of fiction visited in order to be sure that they are what, where and by whom the nomination presents. We then contact the nominee if the category they fit into is open, if it is not then we must wait until it does open. (3 nominations per category to open) It is then up to them whether they wish to participate or not. Beyond that we do not 'vet' works, we do not 'judge' nominations or nominees before hand in any manner other than to place them in the appropriate category. We also vary from other programs in the types of works that are encouraged to participate. This is a program for adults and for adult works. We do not believe in censorship in any form when it comes to fully functioning adults and as such we place no restrictions on the content of works submitted to this program with the following exceptions: 1- Parody Works (we don't believe there is anything 'fun' or 'adult' in aping someone behind their back) 2- Real Person Fic (no one wants to get sued) 3- WIPS (they change constantly) 4- Crossovers (at this time we wish to concentrate solely on SG-1). Call us Crazy Americans but we really do believe in the fundamental rights of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression. We also believe that programs like this should be fun for all participating; nominator, nominee and voter alike. As such we seek not to bog our program down with overblown rules, empty threats and other complications. We also believe such programs should be courteous, respectful and conscientious of participating people. Therefore they should strive to run on time, to be up front with regard to any problems with the program, and to keep the public at large as up to date as possible. Our blog is updated weekly and there you can find all of the information, including the little bumps in the road, associated with the program. We strive to update our Updates Page as often but admittedly we rely more on the blog for its ease of use. Those of us working here firmly believe that as an awards program it is our duty to simply take in data via the nominations process. Then to compile and categorize it into an easy-to-use format to be displayed at voting time when all works will be 'judged' by the viewing and voting public in all available categories and for all available awards. In other words: we are only here to hold up those works and creators that are nominated by the public and to give the public a forum in which to voice its collective opinion. We are not here to interject ours. We hope you understand this philsophy. For more information on this program please see our Qualifying Works and Rules & FAQS pages.
