3. Works (not nominees) which have previously won Blue Moon Awards. Please see our Archive of Past Winners to find out if the work you would like to nominate has already won a Blue Moon Award.

General Overview

Categories and sub-categories listed below are just to give you a general idea of the things we are looking for. More categories and sub-categories will be added and opened as needed. If you ever have any questions regarding a nomination or something you would like to nominate but you are not sure if it is appropriate for this program please feel free to contact us and discuss it with us.

If possible, works with an "R" and/or "NC/17" rating will be placed in their own categories with "PG-13" separate therefrom if possible. Anything "G" rated will automatically be placed into a General Audiences category.

In general we are looking for any type of Stargate SG-1 fan work; written (any length), art (hand-drawn, manip, video, etc.) and/or websites that have an adult flare. Written works with a rating of "R" or higher are greatly encouraged and are expected to be the bulk of this program. Please see below for more detailed information on individual types of art.

We seek never to impinge on anyone's Freedom of Speech or Freedom of Expression. We do not hide behind the guise of 'good taste' as we believe that is only a thinly veiled and polite form of censorship. When we say that ALL works and creators are welcome, we mean exactly that!

We also seek not to impinge upon anyone's right to make money and to be self-sufficient in the "real world". As such, those who have published works of fic and/or art in or outside of the fandom are very welcome to join us in this program. If you have enough faith in yourself as a writer or artist to put yourself out there like then then we support you 100%.

FanFiction

Fic Changes for 2010
Added Main Categories

Character & Team Centric Stories-We are going to make the attempt to divide works that are more 'character' and/or 'team' centric away from the Gen category as needed.

The Character Centric Category is for stories that focus mainly on one SG-1 character and DO contain sex, violence or other adult themes We are hoping to receive enough character centric stories to open categories for each SG-1 character. If not, we will open as many as possible and give the nominee the option of placing their work in another category if one cannot be opened.

The Team Centric Category is for stories that are NOT pairing or character centric but DO contain sex, violence or other adult themes.

Crossovers- will be accepted, however, they must go into the Crossover category AND the SG-1 characters must be the main focus of the story, they cannot merely be mentioned or have 'cameo' appearances. If possible these works will be broken down by crossing show ie; SG-1/SGA, SG-1/Dr. Who, SG-1/Highlander etc.

Back to the Regular Rules & Regs for Fic

FanFiction is automatically broken into one of the following categories;
Character-Centric-stories focusing (mainly) on one SG-1 Character with sexual encounters and/or violence
Crossover-Stories combining the SG-1 Characters with another fandom
FemSlash-Stories with at least one SG-1 female in a female/female sexual pairing/relationship
Gen-Stories WITHOUT sexual encounters and/or violence
Het/'Ship-Stories with at least SG-1 male and/or female in a sexual pairing/relationship
Slash-Stories with at least one SG-1 male in a male/male sexual pairing/relationship
Team-Centric-Stories which focus on team situations and INCLUDE sexual encounters and/or violence.

Sub-Categories will be selected by the nominee after being notified of their nomination. There will be as many categories as nominations allow for with the minimum being three nominations to open any category. If we can't find a category for a particular work we will try as hard as we can to find another appropriate category for that work. In general we expect the categories to be:

Action/Adventure
ADULTS ONLY NC/17--works with EXPLICIT SEX that is the MAIN center of the story
Alternative Universe
Angst
Drabble
Drama
Erotica--for works containing stronger, hotter, more adult sexual material & themes than your average Romance/"Fluff"/PWP piece. Works which contain a love triangle that culminates in a threesome (or similar) should be placed in this category.
Family
Horror/Supernatural
Humor
Hurt/Comfort
Kink/Multiples--for works with threesomes & moresomes WITHOUT romantic entanglements and other kinky themes such as golden showers and heavy bondage.
Original--works that are more imaginative and involved than normal AU

Original Characters- are greatly encouraged. If enough stories containing Original Characters as main characters are nominated there will be a special category for 'Best Original Character' opened when voting time comes.

Novels- All accepted nominated novels will be placed in the Best Novel category if one can open.

Series- to qualify for the Best Series Award they must be nominated on their own and in their entirety, however, individual stories within a series may be freely nominated WITHOUT nominating the entire series. The 'stand alone' rule does NOT apply in this program.
