2010 Stargate SG-1 Blue Moon Awards
Rules & FAQs

If you ever have any questions regarding a nomination or something you would like to nominate but aren't sure is appropriate for this program please feel free to contact us and discuss it with us.

For further information please see the Categories & Definitions

Foremost....previous Blue Moon Award Winners are NOT eligible to be nominated again. Please see our Archive of Past Winners before you nominate. All past winning creators may be nominated for either new or non-winning works.

Lastly, Crossover Works of fic, art, sites and vids are being accepted for the program this year. However, the main focus of any Crossover work must be on Stargate SG-1 and not on any other fandom.

General Rules & Regs

1. How many nominations can I send in?
As many as you like for other people

2. Can I nominate myself?
Yes, you may nominate up to ten (10) of your own stories/art work/vids/website etc. You don't have to let us know that you're doing it.

3. How many times can I VOTE?
ONCE! Votes and nominations received from anonymous surfers will be rejected automatically.
You may vote in as many or as few categories as you like but you may vote only ONCE in each category.

4.Can I have more than one story/work of art in one category?
Yes a nominee may have up to two (2) STORIES in any one subcategory and up to two (2) works of ART in any category/subcategory

5. Can I have works in more than one main category?
No, you must choose a single main category for your work ie something that is Daniel Jackson/Character Centric cannot also be placed into the Team Category

6. How many nominations are required for a main category to open?
There must be a minimum of three nominations per main category for any category to go forward. This means there must be at least three nominations for three different people NOT three different works. Sub-categories are broken down by the same rule.

7. Can I tell people I want to be or that I am NOMINATED?
YES! Post to your blog, tell your mailing list, tell your friends...spread the word far and wide. As soon as you are notified of your nomination you may begin telling people about it. Feel free to use our little Nominee's Graphic--a link back to us is greatly appreciated

8. Can I TELL people to VOTE for me?
NO! You may not force, threaten or otherwise coerce people into voting for you. You MAY hint that you would like people to vote for you as heavily as you wish. Example: My creation has been nominated for a Blue Moon Award I would appreciate it if you vote for this creation....is just fine if posted to your own blog, site, and/or mailing list. It is not fine if you post it all over creation and annoy people. If you happen to have two nominated works in a single category and have a preference regarding which one you would like to see win you may make that known as well. If you post a link....which is greatly appreciated...the LINK MUST GO DIRECTLY TO OUR MAIN PAGE it may NOT go directly to a voting page or list of nominees page. Any voters coming into the site directly to a voting page or nominees page from an outside link when voting opens will not be counted.

9. What about original characters?
We love them! Please send in your nominations for stories with original characters. The story will be placed in its proper category by the Awards Team and the Creator. The Original Character contained within will qualify for The Moonie Awards 'Best Original Character' award at least one story containing that character must be nominated and move forward to the voting round. Original Characters may not be nominated on their own but within a story of any length.

10. What about series works?
ANY story within a series may be freely nominated as an individual story. Series nominated in their entirety will have their own category, providing we get enough nominations for them.

11. Where can stories/artwork be located?
ALL WORKS MUST BE housed on a freely available public site. No mailing list entries or works housed on sites that require membership or a password to gain entry. ALL nominated works must display an email address, contact box, guestbook...something so we can contact the nominee. If there is no way to contact the nominee that nomination will not go forward.

12. What about broken links?
This is why we ask for your email address when you nominate. Please be sure you type in the correct link to the story/artwork you are nominating. We will do what we can with the information provided by the nominator to find the story/artwork nominated including contacting the nominator regarding their nomination. If a working link cannot be found the nomination will not go forward.

13. When will nominees be notified?
In order to avoid any last minute rush or delays we contact nominees as nominations come in and as categories open. Once contacted nominees are free to tell people they've been nominated and to use our little I Was Nominated graphic on their sites/blogs etc.

14. Do I have to respond to my nomination notice even if I don't want to participate?
Yes. We send out notices personally...no bulk mailers...and wish to be as certain as possible that each nominee was actually notified of their nomination and the notice was not lost to the abyss of cyberspace. Please respond to DIRECTLY TO US us via our email by the date given in your notice no matter what your decision is. DO NOT RESPOND VIA ff.net, LJ and the like. For those who wish to decline their nomination just tell us so. Last year, declining nominees were given the option of having us hang on to their nominations in case they changed their minds before the preview period opened...that is not the case this year. This year once we're given notice you do not wish to participate with the program your nomination will be discarded immediately and you will be given the option of being notified of future nominations or not being notified in which case any subsequent nominations will be discarded without notifying the nominee that they were ever received.

15. What if I don't respond in time?
A decision will be made on your behalf regarding your nomination with the best interest of responding nominees and the program in mind, however, in all likelihood the nomination will not go forward.

If you have any questions or are unsure about anything at all please feel free to email us
