The Cradle Will Fall Chapter Twenty
“There’s nothing here,” Achilles intoned while looking around at the massive statutes in the entrance hall. Each Olympian was represented here, each larger than life, more beautiful than reality and holding the weapon of his or her choice as they stared at the door keeping close eye on all who entered. “What did you expect? A hot fire and a warm meal? Perhaps some dancing girls…ah, boys?” Ares quipped and watched Achilles purse his lips in response. “This place has been deserted for almost a thousand years. Let’s just get the obelisk and get out of here.” There was one small snag in their otherwise perfect plan. The obelisk was gone. “That bitch!” Ares roared looking at the place where it had once stood and now was nothing more than a non-dusty spot on the marble floor. “She took it!” “All this for nothing?” Achilles asked. “So it would appear. We have to get back down the mountain. That harlot is after my Grandchildren.” “How do you know that? She could just as easily be after Callestah.” “Not yet,” he snarled, “not much fun in that. The bitch wants to make Callestah sweat, feel every inch of this before she melds with her.” He huffed. “Besides I imagine Eros has a taste for Colleen by now….” “She does look like her Mother,” Achilles said in a dark sigh. “Don’t even think about it,” Ares warned. “Keep your hands off of them! Including my Grandson, I know Nicholas must have caught your passions.” “He is quite…fit.” Achilles complimented. Ares grunted and rolled his dark eyes. “Lets get out of here before we’re too late.”
