It explores Scottish/Celtic mythology to fill in these gaps. It completely ignores the horrible and easily forgotten film Highlander II This novel was intended as the first in a series of three but now is a 'stand alone' work. It is a novel which qualifies as a romantic story more than anything else as it spans, roughly, 200 years in Duncan MacLeod's life and loves. This story introduces us to several original characters including the two Sarah Cooper's, Marcus Denby, Faery Queen Fiona, James, Simon, Hannah and Adam Cooper, Shelia Miles, Mae, and others of the fictional town of Covington, Vermont inlcuding the members of Sarah's choir.
