Sarah was born 1756 Nov 24 Bolton, MA {VR} and died 1846 Jan 21 {Gs: West Lincklaen, Chenango Co NY, in her 90th year, Scott/Ghoudt, page uncited; Smith2, 484, as Jan 09 ae 89} Joseph was a private in Capt. Aaron Gardiner's Co., Col. Brooks' Regt. in 1776 and maybe the Joseph who enlisted in Midleboro as a private in Capt. William Trapper's Co., Col. Ebenezer White's Regt. to an alarm in Rhode Island {MSSR 4:438} Joseph lived with his father in Framingham until 1781, when he removed to West Brattleboro near his fahter-in-law John Houston {Houghton, 17-19}. He removed again by January of 1783 to Bennington, the date of warrant from R Munford {TR, Warrant Book 4"232}. He became a freeman in 1803 and allowed to vote in church {PpR A-1:346}. He was a surbeyor of highways in Bennington in 1795 and 1799 {PpR, A-1, 82, 112}. Joseph sold his property early in 1804 by warrant to Moses Hurd and moved to German, Chenango Co NY with his son Joel. Phoebe was born 1748 Jun 15 Hamptead NH {VR} and died after the birth of her fifth child in 1775 {post vide}. John was an early property owner and settler of Vermont. In 1763, the Governor of New H ampshire granted land in Lunenburg to 74 men fro New Hampshire, one of whom was John {VHG, 1:1015}. It was not until 1787 that John and his sons Robards, Samuel and Moses came to Groton from Plaistow NH {ibid, 4:1158} in 1787 {ibid, 1:321}.
