Barters N Garters Library Chapter Eight I hear hurricanes a blowing. Patrick’s pick up pulled up the hill to the house at 1 North Cemetery Drive and the first thing he noticed was Colleen’s silver Saturn. “Mind if I come in?” David looked out the windshield, snickered and shook his head. “C’mon, Paddy, step up ta the plate. Don’t be shy now.” Opening the door he let himself out and then let both of them in through the back door “Cole? You here, gurl?” “Yeah,” she shouted from the basement. “Ya got company, c’mon up here.” David called down the stairs then turned to Patrick. “G’on sit down. Don’t worry, I ain’t stickin’ around.” Colleen had yet to feel anywhere near comfortable with her Uncle David but who could tolerate his presence if only for her Mother’s sake. Dad didn’t seem to mind. The situation was strange; in fact it was downright fucked up when one thought about it. If it worked and if the three of them thought it was jake then why-the-fuck-not, right? “Who is it?” She asked nearing the door and her Uncle with two frozen steaks in her hands that she intended to cook for dinner. Colleen smiled and sudden rush of pink came into her cheeks at the sight of one Patrick Anderson sitting at the old preparing table. Oh to be young again, David thought as he walked out of the kitchen happy to see the glow in her face. Well at least somebody around here was getting lucky. Upstairs he found the babies asleep in their cribs and Annie on her bed with a text book open and headphones playing a tune which made her head bop from side to side, frizzy blonde hair swaying in the wind, her hips moved in the same time wiggling a firm ass. Nick was a lucky boy too bad he was also an idiot. “Wot’cha studyin’?” He asked from the partially open doorway. “Biology,” Annie sighed taking the headphone down from one ear. “Where’s Mr. and Mrs. J?” “I was hopin’ they’re here but I see they’re not,” David returned. Annie shook her head indicating she hadn’t seen them since they left earlier in the day. Unlike his Immortal twin brother David couldn’t go searching for either of them with his mind with anything nearing ease. Maybe, if he played his cards right, Callie’d make him Immortal too. She did need him to stick around for as long as possible. David gave a slight nod to the young woman and walked away from the door knowing he’d have happy thoughts staring Sweet Little Annie a bit later in the night. Nice ass. On his way down the hall to the big picture window at the end he paused to look into the open door of the master bedroom. No sign they’d been here at all. Where are they? Danny wouldn’t let her do something like this on the spur of the moment, no-way-jose. David sat down on the uncharacteristically unmade bed. He hadn’t been here long but even David knew one of the first things Callie did in the morning was make the bed but not today. She slept on the left and he reached out and grabbed up the pillow she slept on last night, held it to his cheek and breathed in deep. This Sa’Tan thing was harder than it looked. Yep, they should change the job description a little and add things like; may often get kicked in the gut or have heart stepped on. Don’t love the lady too much; she ain’t for you, boy. She’s all Danny’s. Sitting dazed and confused on the edge of the bed clutching Calla’s pillow tightly in his arms he was startled by a blinding flash pink light. David raised his arm to shield his eyes from its brilliance. “Callie? Dat you, gurl?” For a moment as his eyes adjusted he swore that it was but as the light faded he knew it was not. This woman looked like Callie, he’d recognize that naked pixie-like body anywhere, but she wasn’t her. “Where is she?” Lady Megan demanded. “Guess you’re outta luck there, missy, Callie ain’t here.” David said rising to his feet and tossing down the pillow. “No?” Megan looked around the room. “Her loss.” Snatching out with the speed of a viper she grabbed David by the shoulders and poof …..They were gone from the bedroom only to reappear in largely unused portion of Zeus’ Palace. The famous Dungeon where all Olympians were powerless. The same place where had locked up a 12 year-old girl for 6 months with no visitors at all for company or to help pass the time. All around him were iron maidens and chains hanging from the ceiling and the walls. There were whips and prods and thumb screws and all sorts of goodies with which to torture your enemy into submission. Looked more like some place Ares would frequent rather than Zeus. Before David could understand where he was or say anything the Lady Megan had him locked up secure in a pair of chains and cuffs anchored to the far wall. “You stay here like a good little boy and I’ll be back just as soon as I find that little tart.” One down. Two to go. This is going to be a breeze. The old man won’t even think to look for them here. The new Goddess disappeared from Zeus’ Dungeon in search of her next victims. As she did so, Ares, in full battle regalia made a grand entrance in the kitchen of his Daughter’s house in a flash of red light. “Where is she?” Patrick Anderson thought the cocoa she gave him must be laced with LSD; people didn’t just materialize in front of your eyes! Never mind like this guy with all of his blades and his armor. “For cryin’ out loud, Umpa, don’t you ever knock?” “Where is your Mother?” Ares demanded then stopped to take a deep sniff of the man currently keeping his Granddaughter company. “Where?” “I don’t know, she’s off with Dad. “ Colleen stammered wondering how she was going to explain his sudden appearance to Patrick who looked as though he was seeing a ghost. “Uncle David’s upstairs.” As soon as she said it she was sorry. Ares didn’t take the stairs he just zapped himself up there right in front of Patrick’s bewildered eyes. “My Grandfather,” she said and tried to sound casual. “Ah-huh, what’s his name?” “Ares.” “Ah-huh that fits.” Before he could say anything else Ares was back in the kitchen. “He’s not there!” “He just went upstairs, Umpa, we both saw him.” Now that she thought about it she did think she heard a thump or a yelp or something. “Annie?” Colleen shouted to the ceiling above her. “I’m sorry about all of this, Pat. I’ll explain it soon.” “Um, ok.” He said in the same bewildered tone. Annie rushed down the stairs and said yes she’d seen David not ten minutes ago but hadn’t heard anything after that since she’d put her headphones on again. “Where’s my Nicky?” She demanded of Ares. “When is he coming home?” “He isn’t, get used to it.” With that Ares disappeared from the Jackson house off in search of his Daughter. ** “Got everything you wanted,” Daniel said leaning into the car window to hand Calla the heavy brown paper bag. “We’ll have a nice quiet night I promise.” Famous Last Words. Out of no where there was a brilliant flash of pink light and a very naked Calla stood in the parking lot of the take-out restaurant. For half a second Daniel looked from the one in the passenger’s seat to the one standing beyond her and had just enough time to see Calla turn in the direction he was staring WHAM They disappeared from the comfortable town of Greenbrier, Colorado. No car. No parking lot. No Chinese food. Landed in Zeus’ Dungeon. “Danny!” David shouted and fought against the chains on his wrists. “Watch out for…” but he didn’t finish with that bitch when said bitch clobbered Daniel Jackson over the back of the head with a heavy wooden club sending him crashing to his knees. Shocked, surprised and absolutely mystified by the speed at which things were happening Calla struggled to get her bearings, it was dark and dank here. A fire burned in a pit in the middle of the room near a line of cells which actually was one great big rectangular cage divided into three sections. Callas’ eyes grew wider and wider as she stared at it and just as she was about to scream from recognizing the place when Daniel crashed to the ground and the clone stood behind him grinning from ear to ear. Blood pouring from the back of his head Calla rushed to his side but before she could reach him he disappeared and reappeared in the set of shackles next to David where he hung limply by his wrists. The first thing she thought to do was unchain them but her magick didn’t work. Why was that? The clone’s magick worked and Zeus had not yet condemned her to this place so….. “Oh, but he did once, didn’t he? Yes, Zeus condemned you to this place but not me, my dear, not I am not you and I am not an Olympian,” Megan sneered. “I am a mere imitation of the Great Lady Callestah. You are powerless here but I am not, so let’s get down to it, shall we? You know what I want. Give it to me and I’ll let you live.” “Callie!” David shouted still fighting with the harsh metal at his wrists. “Get outta here, gurl!” “What will it be?” The Lady Megan asked. “Will you give me David and come into this body? Or does he die here and now?” Still in shock and floundering Calla was unable to answer the woman who was her duplicate and that did not please Her Royal High Bitchiness. “Maybe you need time to think about it!” Megan shouted through gnarled lips. Casting a hand roughly in Calla’s direction, Calla flew backwards from the force of the woman’s magick and landed in the same cage she’d been kept prisoner for so many months. The door slammed shut with a resounding thud. “NO! LET ME OUT OF HERE! LET ME OUT!” Calla screamed as she grabbed the squared bars with both hands to scale them to the top of the cage and then to pull and tug and yank at the bars, her head flapping back and forth causing a bright mane of auburn hair to fly around like a raging inferno as Calla screamed and railed at this unthinkable insult. The effort was futile and Calla knew that there was no escape once that door shut it was over and there was only one way out. “FATHER! HELP ME!” Her rage echoed throughout the dungeon but it was of no use. “ZEUS!” Continuing on in her protest and angry, head flailing side to side and red hair spreading around her Calla looked like an orangutan who had been poked at and teased too much by a horde of nasty children and was now screaming for vengeance. “Go on scream your little head off no one can hear you outside of these walls. Not even the Great Ares, who wouldn’t help you if he could.” Megan spat. “Not after the way you’ve turned your back on him and your responsibilities.” Drawing in a deep calming breath the naked woman pulled up a chair and sat in a space a good distance from all three of them but from where she could keep watch on them. “Zeus is probably sound asleep right above our heads and he too would not help you even if he could hear you. Just cool down, little one,” she sneered, “when you’re ready you will give me one of them.” “Or what?” Calla asked as she continued to pull at the bars with her small hands and pushed against them with her tiny feet. “Or you’ll never get out of there and they,” she pointed at Daniel and David, “will die right where they hang now and you will watch as I slowly peel the skin from their bones, their cries of agony will fill your ears, resound in your head and never let you rest as you rot away in that cell.” “Do what you want me to but don’t you touch them.” “You are no position to make threats or demands upon me. Make it easy on all of us, hey Callestah, just come out of there and join with me.” In the midst of a full blown panic attack which was now traveling from the heights of fury and fight to sink rapidly into the depths of despair and flight, Calla slid down the squared bars, her face pressed against them until she landed on the dirty floor below. Crawling into the far corner of the cell in which she’d spent so much time when she was young. All she could do was huddle there, her eyes staring in disbelief at the woman outside the bars. “Callie….” Before David could finish saying whatever it was he wanted to say to her he was hit by the hard impact of something he could not see. It hit him squarely in the chest knocking every last bit of wind out of him until he hang there by his wrists gasping for air to fill his lungs. “Be silent dog.” Megan ordered. “Leave them alone,” Calla begged quietly from the far corner of the cell. “Daniel’s hurt, please he needs help.” “He’s Immortal he’ll heal but the other one well he’s a bit more delicate than that now isn’t he?” Megan crooned. “So perhaps he’ll die and I’ll take Daniel with me after all.” Last time she saw Callestah the woman was wearing nothing more than one of Ares’ tunics but now she understood why he’d offered her the rather strange clothing. There she was in her blue jeans and her light blue sweater, black heeled boots on her feet and long black coat surrounding her shoulder to knees. It was almost the exact outfit Ares wanted her to wear and she had known those clothes belonged to Callestah because she smelled the wench on them. He wanted a carbon copy of this pathetic little wretch and for what? Breeding? Somehow she thought that wasn’t all Ares wanted. Megan hated Calla for it. What was so great so wonderful about this sniveling bitch? Nothing. “No,” huddling in the far corner, behind the hard plank which was secured to the wall by thick chains and served as a bed though it was nothing more than a door, Calla drew her knees up to her chin and her arms tight around them and started rocking as she hummed a nonsense tune and shivered. The last time she was here it was dreadful just horrible. Six months sitting here…right bloody here!.....with out a single soul for company or a single kind voice for sympathy. Twice a day a tray of food appeared in her cell but no barer came. Twice a day the tray disappeared whether she ate the food or not and still no barer. No one yelled. No one bickered. No one pointed fingers at her or made accusations. There was nothing but the sickening silence to fill her days and nights. No matter how much she cried or begged or screamed or promised to be good no one listened and no one offered mercy or forgiveness for her terrible sin of crossing once more into the mortal world. Father didn’t come. Mother didn’t come. Eros didn’t come. Not even a window in this wretched place to tell her night from day, rain from sun or to bring the salted breeze to her. Nothing but the harsh cold white marble stone of the thick walls and ancient heavy iron bars surrounded her and the dark mahogany floor, covered with filthy clumps of hay for shitting at her feet, welcomed her home with an icy embrace. “Leave them alone. Let me go.” She demanded without any strength. “You sit there for a while and think about what you’ve done.” Lady Megan said as though she were speaking to an unruly five year-old. “In the meantime, this one’s awake.” She got up from the uncomfortable wooden chair to cross the distance between her and David. With an adept hand and a sly smile she ran her fingers under his shirt to touch the warmth of his skin. Any other time, any other time at all! A naked Callie caressing him so sweetly would make David harder than a ten penny nail but not this time. This woman, although naked and beautiful and looking just like the poor woman across the room huddling in the cell, her serpentine touch made David want to puke. Looking into those eyes sparkling with greed and insanity he knew she was just another snake in the Garden of Eden. More than anything he wanted to tell her not to touch him but his throat didn’t work. When she said ‘be silent dog’, she meant it. The air returned to his lungs in fits and starts his voice took a vacation off to parts unknown. “Well, David, I must say, you certainly are the most interesting one of the two of you.” She cooed and gave a very demur smile but the cold gleam in her eye belied the warmly upturned corners of her lips. Sharp finger nails sliced through the flesh of his chest as she tore the shirt from his body. “Yes, most interesting.” Megan glanced back at Calla. “Is he any good?” “No, he’s a lousy lover.” Calla shot back. “Can’t bring himself to orgasm never mind you.” That, of course, was a big fat lie but why should she tell the woman the truth? Under the icy touch of the replica’s hand David bucked and twitched trying to be rid of her. “Stay still.” Megan ordered undoing the belt at his waist. Daniel started groaning as he hung in the chains next to them. “Wake up sleepy-head, you’re missing the party.” Megan cooed sweetly then slapped him hard across the face. “C’mon, you don’t want to miss out on the fun, do you?” Another cold slap and then she gripped Daniel’s lower jaw harshly and raised his head. “Look who we have over there, why, it’s your Wife, Daniel my boy. Ooo and what shall we do with the lovely Mrs. Jackson?” She quipped easily. “I bet Nicholas knows some entertaining things to do with her, what do you think?” “I think,” he grumbled through a hoarse dry throat. “Yes, you think what? Come on now, my darling, don’t keep us in suspense.” She encouraged “I think we never should have gone after you.” “Oh,” she moaned and frowned, “you hurt my feelings and that’s not very….” Double-axe handle across the face, WHAM! “Nice, now is it?” Daniel’s wounded head collided with the wall behind him blood spurted from the wound and filled his mouth as his teeth gnashed together. “Go to hell.” “Been there. Done that. Nope, I’m not going back.” From the loneliness of the dank cell Calla let out a low whimper. Opening his eyes wider and having his first good look around Daniel thought he knew where he was but wasn’t sure and now he saw his Wife and the predicament she was in. This was Zeus’ Dungeon. “Kitty? Let her out of there!” Now it was his turn to pull and yank and rail against the restraints but of course it was all to no avail whatsoever. “Why do you call her by the idiotic name? You’re just as childish as your Son.” She sneered. “Her name is Callestah and she turns into a Cat it’s a mere parlor trick, it’s nothing. Watch.” The naked woman with the long auburn hair and the big green eyes seemed to sink into the floor but that wasn’t it at all, no, she got shorter and hairier as she turned a lioness. Looking up at the shackled men with hungry gold eyes, Megan let out a deep growl while bearing her sharp teeth at them. “This is what she was supposed to be.” The Lioness said to them and lapped at her pulled back lips with a large pink tongue. Before their eyes the animal turned back into a woman—or whatever Megan was. “See how easy.” “I’m glad she’s not you.” Daniel said not taking his eyes off the caged woman. “She’s so much better than you’ll ever be.” Her Royal High Bitchiness, the Lady Megan stomped her foot hard on the floor and then struck him across the face again. “Shut up! Mortal pig. What do you know?” She grinned mercilessly as she watched Daniel attempt to speak again only to find that his voice had departed just as David’s had. “I like silence, they say it’s golden, you know. The only word either of you can say is ‘I consent’, go on try to say something else.” She put her hand to her ear and cocked her head in their direction. Try as they did to say something, anything at all, nothing came out until Daniel decided to try it. “aaahhh….I” he stammered and David followed suit to also stammer out ‘I’ but no more. Seemed the woman was telling the truth. “Nothing more? What’s the matter? Cat got your tongues?” Megan cackled wildly. “So now then. Give me your consent and I shall free both of you.” She leaned in closer and waited but knew it wouldn’t be quite this easy. “Ah, I see we want to play hardball, by all means, gentlemen, let the games begin.” End Of Chapter Eight This story and all stories in the Barters N Garters Library are copyrighted to Lisa Beth Darling these stories
