Sara Chapter Five “So this is your place,” Sara said as she looked around Daniel’s apartment. It was the first time she had been there. Previously, they had only been at her house. “Home sweet home,” he said as he placed his arms around her. “What a collection you have here,” she said looking around at all the artifacts that decorated the apartment. “Thanks,” he said with more on his mind than his collection. “I’m hungry.” “Hungry? Its three o’clock in the afternoon.” “Not for food, for you,” Daniel said as he kissed her neck. He surprised her by literally sweeping her off her feet and taking her into the bedroom and laying her down on his oversized bed. “I have been thinking of this all week.” He lay down next to her and began to unbutton her blouse. Hands explored bodies. By now, they were familiar with many of the sensitive areas of the other. Daniel had become an expert at getting Sara out of her clothes. He loved seeing her in all of her naked glory. She was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen and was still surprised that she was with him. Lighting struck twice for him, first with Shar’e and now with Sara. They lay in bed, the covers thrown around the room as their bodies began to cool off from their exercises. Sara was on her stomach as Daniel traced her tattoo over and over. “How did you get this?” he said as he rubbed a three-inch scar right on her upper arm. “Survival training. Me versus a rock, a really big rock.” “You are so different. I have never met anyone like you before.” “What do you mean?” “You are so secure with yourself, not afraid of anything. Smart and beautiful. Why am I so lucky?” “I don’t know. And believe me; I am afraid of plenty of things.” “What could you be afraid of? Just when I think I have you figured out, I find something new about you, like this scar.” “The only thing I am afraid of right now is running out of condoms,” she told him, not wanting to get into the ghosts that haunted her. Daniel laughed, he had never laughed as much as he did when he was with her. Sara silenced him with a deep kiss, making both of their bodies sizzle again. “Sara, wake up. You’re having a nightmare,” Daniel said as he gently shook her. Tears ran down her face, as she seemed to be running from something horrible. “No, no. Jessup, Stovers, no!” she moaned. Suddenly her eyes opened and sat straight up, shaking. “Are you okay?” he asked, very concerned. After a few seconds, she was able to respond. “Um….yeah,” she was able to say, with tears still streaking down her face and pulled her knees in. “You were having a nightmare,” he said as he put his arms around her. “It sounded pretty bad. Do you want to talk about it?” “No,” she said, dead set about not talking about it, still sitting up stiffly. Wiping her face she finally said, “I’ll be okay.” After a few minutes, she was able to lie back down, held securely in his arms. “You know you can tell me anything, Sara. You’re safe with me.” “I know. I sleep better in your arms.” “You’ve had trouble sleeping before?” “On and off. This is the first one that I can remember since I met you.” “Sara, I hate seeing you upset like this. I care about you too much to see you in pain. I’m falling in love with you.” She was shocked to hear his admission. “You…love …me?” “Yeah Sara. Don’t tell me you don’t feel it too,” he crooned. “I do, I am madly in love with you Daniel. It’s just I’ve never been told anything as beautiful before.” “Believe me. I never though I would love another woman. I have been blessed twice and I’m going to do everything in my power to keep you by my side.” Sara began to tear up again, not sure what she was feeling. “Don’t cry Sara.” “I’m not sad. Just overwhelmed.” He held her tightly as they lay there silently. Eventually, Daniel felt her relax and her breathing slow down as she fell asleep. His heart ached for her as he realized that she had experience great pain. He knew that kind of pain well, too well. David sat in his home office, reading over an article a fellow archaeologist had published not too long ago. He tried to keep up with the “buzz” out in the academic world, just to see if anyone stumbled onto something interesting. Putting down the article on his desk, David sat back to let his eyes relax for a bit. With all the reading he did, he was surprised that he wasn't blind yet. His eyes trailed across the desk to a picture of Shar'e that had been on his desk since he had come back from Abydos all those years ago. “Oh, Shar'e. We had so little time together,” he said picking up the black and white photograph. “I just hope that you could forgive me for getting involved with another woman.” He gently stoked the photo, remembering what it had been like to be with his wife. “Sara's a great woman. You'd probably had liked her. She's strong and smart and knows what she wants. Much like you.” Holding the photograph close to his chest, the familiar tightness around his heart returned. “I will never, never forget you and our short time together but like you wished for me to do in your last seconds of life, I'm finally starting to live life again now that I've met Sara. Wherever you are, I hope you're happy for me.” End Chapter Five of Sara This story along with all original characters and situations were created
