 Chapter 2: Annie

"You're a little bit dry
A little up tight
You're the messed up girl
That everybody tries to hide..."

"You fucking prick!" The girl screamed.

   "Fuck off Coma!"

"I swear to GOD you selfish motherfucker I will see you with your dick in a fucking fire!" Daniel froze; this woman was on fire mad. He knew he should be walking in the opposite direction. Or at least stop staring, but the light in the street had revealed her to him, and if it weren't for the earthbound smells, he could've sworn he'd stepped right through the 'Gate.

She was so busy seething and packing some sort of bag, she didn't notice him standing there for a full five minutes. When she stood, he got an eyeful.

High heeled chunky boots carried all the way up to her knees. The buckles were huge and shaped like skulls. Some sort of black and white striped stockings ended at her thighs, where a black schoolgirl type skirt flared, barely covering her butt. It was secured with huge pins. Above that, there was just a bra with flames on it, covered by a fishnet tank top and a winking above the ridiculously short skirt told him she had her bellybutton pierced. Black striped arm bands reached her elbows, and he noticed they matched her stockings. One arm was weighed down with black rubber bracelets and chains. A gaggle of pendants and charms hung from her neck, making her every move like the jangling of keys. A tight leather band was secured around her throat. She was tall and thin, her body very much fey like in the light, turning her skin almost translucent.

Daniel must've breathed too heavy, because the next thing he knew he was looking into the most intense light green eyes ever. The bright streetlight combined with heavy black kohl and eye shadow turned them glowing. She blinked then turned to face him. The sharp movement caused her high ponytail to jerk behind her. The long black hair reached her back, and the tiny braids that made up her bangs were tucked over one ear, and he noticed those too were ended in jangling causing silver beads. A couple glossy braids escaped and draped over one eye. Her eyebrows rose, one pierced twice, and her black lips smirked, the pouty blackness only interrupted by a silver ring, and her nose was pierced too. There were lots of tattoos on her arms and body, but the poor lighting didn't allow for his analytical mind to study them. In fact, he realized he'd been taking in every detail without thinking about her actually being there. Like one of his artifacts.

"Do you want a picture, Prettyboy?" She said disgustedly, hand on one hip. It wasn't as if Daniel had never heard of this type of people, but before today, he'd never actually SEEN one. Up close. She radiated passion and fire. Her eyes fairly blazed with it. Fury and LIFE enveloped her. She reached up to tuck the escapee braids back, her black fingernails seeming like talons. And something strange, almost alien inside Daniel came to attention. He realized with some amount of horror that he was ATTRACTED to her.

For her part, Annie knew she was being watched from the moment the blue eyed man started to study her. She let him. He was utterly fascinated by her. Pretty eyes. They looked wide now, like a deer caught in the headlights. This wasn't the usual look of disgust people threw her he was studying her, as if wanting to take in every detail. It was amusing. She cocked her head to the side. Then sighed deeply, and went back to picking up all her shit from the street, zipping up the huge duffel bag.

Paul was SUCH an asshole. She didn't much give a shit as to who his new little bird was. She just wanted to pay her part of the rent and have a place to stay. Paul announced this evening that he wanted his 'Private space' back. That was just another way of telling her that his new girlfriend was pressuring him to get her the hell outta there. It wasn't as if she didn't pay her part of the rent, she DID. So this was just a tactic he was using to "show her her place". Bullshit. Like she needed a fucking reminder. She turned over one arm to look at her specially made Crow watch, and realized that she was gonna have to find shelter soon. The sun was coming up in less than two hours.

She threw the heavy pack over her back, and was prepared to step off the edge of the sidewalk, when the pretty eyed man finally found his voice.

"C..C..c..Can I help you?" Daniel had NO idea what he was doing. She could be dangerous. However, years of having to make snap judgments about places and people had taught him a few things, and one of them was that just because someone LOOKED scary, didn't mean they WERE. Ask Chaka about that one.

She looked up, and her black eyebrows went up.

"Unless you got a place to sleep to pull outta your ass, then no, I don't think so," She crossed her arms across her chest, "What are you doing here anyway?"

   "I...kinda...got lost." He nervously chuckled.

"I'd go home Prettyboy, this is no place for someone like you." She looked around, as if assessing the danger for the moment. It was safe. Most of her brethren were closing up shop for the night. Going home to fuck or do drugs or just plain sleep.

"I...I've got an extra room." Daniel blurted. Her eyes widened. She let her pack fall to the ground and started to circle him with her presence.

"Do you now? You don't even know my name."

"Well then, why don't you enlighten me?" Daniel said a little more sharply than he wanted to. She smiled. Okay, so he does have balls.

"Annabella White. My friends call me Coma.....but you're not gonna get that, so why not just stick with Annie......and you Prettyboy?"

"Daniel......Jackson." She smirked, her eyes taking on a predatory look.  She licked her black lips, then picked up her pack and shrugged. Daniel put out his hand, but Annie dodged the contact.

"Well then Daniel Jackson......mind showing me this mysterious room?"

He indicated she follow him. When they walked, it was in silence, but it wasn't without words. Daniel watched her, she watched him. He did a lot of frowning and his eyes never stopped moving. As Daniel took her back into his neighborhood, and towards his house, Annie nodded.

"Wow, you were WAY outta your zone huh?" She looked around her. The nice, clean houses, freshly painted and the manicured lawns were an indication that where she'd found him wasn't where he was supposed to be. But there was a hardness to him, a look of determination that told her he would've held his own, even against one of her nastiest cohorts.

"Yeah....got kinda lost...." He ducked his head. Annie wondered if he meant just in his walk tonight.

As they entered his house, Annie looked around. Not a lot of usage. Dusty. She frowned. Looked at all the decorations. There seemed to be little pieces from nearly every ancient culture. Without realizing it, she began to recite as she walked along the hallways and walls.

"Egyptian, second dynasty....Minoan.....Hindu....Medieval swords...." She breathed. Daniel blinked. Until she came to the picture of Sha're on his mantle. Annie stopped and looked at it for a few frozen seconds, then seemed to look confused before she shook it off.

"You know cultures?" Daniel ventured as she ran black fingernails over several pieces.

"Yeah.....what, you thought I just majored in weird?" Annie laughed and plunked her pack down on the living room floor, kicking up some dust in the process. She looked offhandedly at Daniel, smiling.

"So, which way to the magical bedroom?"

"Oh....ummmm.....this way....." He'd been so into watching her that he hadn't remembered why the girl was here in the first place. He showed her to the guestroom, which he was relieved to have been cleaned out from Jacks recent stay. She plopped down on the bed, putting her elbows back. It was then that Daniel noticed he could see right up her skirt. Blushing profusely, he ducked his head.

"What.....oh, come ON, they're pretty!" She laughed. She didn't care at all. Annie was perfectly comfortable with all things sexual, including her own. But she could see the rather reserved gentleman was dreadfully embarrassed by it.

"You're too cute."  She leaned down and undid her boots, then rolled over, her stocking feet swinging back and forth above her.

"Wellllllll, I probably won't wind down for another two hours or so. I'll just watch TV or read. Don't worry....by the end of the night tomorrow, you'll never see me again." For some reason watching the less than normal girl on his guest bed swinging her feet like she didn't have a care in the world and hearing her say those words bothered him.

"G...Goodnight....Annie." Daniel went back to bed, and for some reason, he felt better knowing she was there. He knew there would be hell to pay when Jack found out about this, but as he heard her pad around, her many adornments jangling......the extra energy, filled with extreme emotion and passion, filled up the house so completely it seemed to chase out all the other energies. The ones trying to plague him as he slept. He was unconscious as soon as his head hit the pillow.

Annie went out to take a better look at the house. She perused the books and the pictures. On the wall she found the plaques. 'Oh, it's DOCTOR Daniel Jackson'. Sexy. She giggled. He seemed to be strong, like he could face down anything.......but one peek at her Hello Kitty thong and he went into a geek mode.

She found one pic of what seemed to be him with an army unit. Not that she could tell one from the other. She hated the U.S. Military and the government. After losing her father to some mission when she was only four. Fucking Cold War.

These people were happy, almost beaming. She found Daniel immediately, his bright blue eyes standing out. His hair was longer, his body thinner. He looked almost childlike. Not at all like the wary, tired man she'd seen earlier. She frowned. There was also a pretty blonde, reminded her of her third grade teacher. A tall man, with brown/grey hair. Ahhh, here was the military man. The soldier and the warrior. But he was smiling with an uncharacteristic amount of sarcasm. Then the stoic black man with a staff of some sort and a gold body mod. Damn, that had to hurt. She looked around then took the picture out of its frame. She closed her eyes.

~ A vista of sand with three moons. A ring, a big one, some sort of grass and growth. A much younger Daniel was going off about something, and the older man was only half paying attention.

"Oh for cryin' out loud Daniel.....are you almost done?"

"Jack, just five more minutes!" The younger Daniel pleaded. For some reason, the older man gave it to him. The blonde woman smirked in barely disguised mirth. The one called Jack glared at her and she smiled just a little less.

  "I'm ready Sir." She stood.

  "Good Carter. DANIEL!" He shouted.

"Okay....." Daniel looked like he was being torn from his favorite toy, but acquiesced anyway, and they headed back towards the ring. Jack spoke.

"Alright kids, lets go. Hammond is waiting."

"Is your "playoffs" not awaiting as well?" The tall black one, Teal'c commented.  Daniel burst into giggles. Jack glared at him, and then at the one called Carter, who was smirking.

"Not one word Carter. I swear, if I could, I'd put you all in the brig."

   "Of course Colonel."

Jack shook his head at his 'kids' before someone punched some keys on a nearby contraption and the ring burst to life.

Annie put the picture back, and then realized she probably stumbled onto something she wasn't supposed to know about. Deciding that discretion was the better part of saving her own ass, she put the picture back where she'd found it. She found her way to the bedroom containing her host, and looked in. He looked beautiful now that he was sleeping. She reached out to touch him, but thought better of it. Whatever darkness was in this man's soul she wasn't ready to experience it. Sometimes the shittiest part of being who she was was that a simple touch could open up hell.
