 Chapter 10: Parallels

"I look and stare so deep in your eyes
I touch on you more and more every time
When you leave I'm beggin you not to go
Call your name two, three times in a row..."

Coffee. Daniel could smell it. It was close. The smell got into his nose and went straight to his brain. He cracked open one blue eye and caught sight of his lover holding a big cup of it. She kept putting it under his nose. She was naked. Gloriously so. Their first night at home had been....busy.

"Gimme that." Annie laughed. She put her finger up and shook it back and forth.

"You gotta get up first. And put on some clothes. It's almost 8." Reluctantly, Daniel opened both eyes and sat up. He groaned. Damn, he'd forgotten what toll having a sex life took on the body. He smirked at Annie.

"I'm up. Gimme....c'mon Annie." He gave her his best puppy dog face.

"And what do I get in return?" She sang, teasing him with the smell. She had no idea how he lived off this shit. She hated it, always had. But she had her own store of Red Bull. He narrowed his eyes at her.

"I WON'T develop a 'headache' tonight." Her green eyes went wide. She gasped, and handed over the cup. Pouted.

"Blackmailer." Raising one eyebrow, Daniel switched hands that the coffee was in and used the other to reach between her legs. He watched her calmly while sipping the fabulous hazelnut coffee she made him. He figured fair was fair. If he could have his ecstasy, she deserved hers. Not that she didn't get him back for it. Looked defiant and struck out at him with her mind, using the connection to share just exactly what it was that she was feeling. Daniels eyes darkened. Oh hell. They were going to be late.

 The SGC

General Hammond sat at the head of the table. Jack, Sam, and Teal'c were already there. The clock read 0810 hours. There was a commotion in the hallway before Daniel and Annie appeared.

"Sorry General....traffic." Daniel ducked his head to hide his lie.

'Traffic Danny? Oh, I know you can come up with better than that.' Jack smiled. Daniel took back roads.

Neither Jack nor Sam missed the Cheshire cat grin on Annie’s face.

The General started the briefing. Routine things that Annie found her eyes glazing over for. All her work came through her department directly. The only reason she even went to these things was because Daniel asked her to. She was thinking about her newly burned CD when her errant mind picked up on the tail end of the conversation.

....and you know the people well enough to get them out?" Hammond asked.

"Yes, I believe so. Shouldn't take me more than a few days." Daniel took another sip of coffee. This was standard for him. Only Sam, probably being another woman, picked up on Annie’s distress. She looked guiltily down the table at Annie’s scared eyes. This was her first time detaching from Daniel while he went offworld.

"Miss White?" The general called. Annie blinked a few times and looked up.

  "Huh?"

"I said did you finish those reports about the eggs from 436?"

"Oh, you mean the stink bombs? Yeah. Ya know, if I didn't know better, I could've sworn those things were from some interstellar joke shop."

 Jack made a face.

 "What were they?"

"Believe or not......someone’s breakfast." Jack and Teal'c, who had both had the unfortunate stance to around them, both looked confused. Then Jack made a face.

 "Are you serious?"

"Yep. Pan and all. So if ya’ll are planning to go back there.....don't eat the food." Annie advised.

 "See now, that's just gross."

"I too do not see how anyone could consume those objects." Teal'c commented. Annie shrugged.

"Ya know what they say. You are what you eat."

 "Indeed."

Hammond smiled and concluded the briefing.

Annie sat on Daniels table in his office. She'd been a little down for hours, and refused to leave his office. She'd never been needy before, always relying on herself to see through things. But then, she'd never been in love before either. Daniel picked his head up. Annie hadn't moved or made on indecent comment in two hours. Something was wrong. Shit. He felt so stupid. He was going offworld. For the first time leaving her behind. SHE hadn't even gone.

"Annie hon. Baby look at me." She raised her green eyes to him.

"Its routine baby, I'm going to be just fine."

"I've been reading the mission reports from the last seven years Daniel; NOTHING is ever merely routine with you guys." Daniel winced.

"I really wish you wouldn't read those honey," He got up, and hugged her. "They'll only scare you."

"Or tell me the truth. How am I not supposed to worry Daniel? You DIED. More than once....DIED Daniel. Once for a whole year! And PLEASE don't feed me that ascended bullshit because I don't care if you we're living life as a purple polka dotted squid on another planet, you were gone! Gone is GONE." Annie looked up, a black tear rolling down her cheek. She slid away from him and began to pace.

"And I know what you told General Hammond. You're the one who made the protest! You don't want me to go offworld. I don't understand you Daniel. I'm not supposed to be scared when YOU go offworld, but you're so scared you won't even let me GO myself!" Annie was so upset she didn't realize Jack and Sam were out there. Jack winced.

"Damn....I knew he was the one who said something."

"Sir, I could take her through the training." Carter offered.

"It's not that Carter. He still has dreams about Sha're and that was seven years ago. You think he's in a rush to have Annie stroll through that gate?"

"I'll talk to her Sir. Maybe woman to woman?" Jack nodded.

"And I'll knock Daniels head around. He tries to wrap Annie up in cotton wool, he's gonna lose her anyway."

"Dammit Daniel, please don't give me the speech about not being afraid. You need to wake up and realize I'm NOT Sha're OR Sarah and I'll never be. You'll never know how very sorry I am that those things hurt you, but I won't pay for it. I know you love me and that you're scared, but love means trust, and you have to trust me that I can take care of myself, you KNOW I can't live in a cage. Not even one made up of your fear."

Annie walked out of Daniels office, and as she was making her way back to her own, she heard her name being called.

  "Annie!"

"Sam?"  Sam waved her into her lab.

"Oh, Annie. Please. You have to understand, he was lost to the world twice with Sha're. Once when she was taken and then again when she died. We didn't think we were ever going to get him back."

  "But I'm not..."

"And he knows that. How could he not? But he thinks he's...cursed or something. And you're so....wild Annie. I think he's afraid when you leave to go to the store. I know you're not helpless, but his heart is so scarred. You need patience Annie. Give him time." Annie nodded and hugged Sam. Sam was startled, but hugged her back. Sam had done some research and found that telepaths were very tactile people, which would explain why she was all over Daniel all the time.

At the same time, Jack had wandered into Daniels office. The archaeologist was still shaking. He knew Jack was waiting.

"Out with it Jack." He sighed.

"Ya know, for someone so smart, you can be really dumb." Jack started.  Daniel frowned and Jack held his hand up.

"If you keep this up, you're gonna lose her Danny. She's not the type to sit at home knitting and raising kiddies. That’s not what you want from her either is it?"

   "No Jack, but she's so...."

"What? Intelligent, street smart and strong? With a little training Daniel, she could be just as capable as you were once, and get better over time. Dunno about giving her a gun though...." Jack smiled, and Daniel laughed.

"Now go say you're sorry and grovel a little. You guys are gonna have to stay together if she's ever gonna join SG-1."

"What?" Jack put his hands up.

"Not for a long time, she needs work. And more reliable clothing."

  "I like her clothes Jack."

"I'll bet you do. Could those skirts GET any shorter?" Daniel smirked.

  "Never mind...forget I asked."

Daniel found Annie in her office, and cleared his throat. She'd been so deep in thought, she hadn't noticed.

"Annie?" She looked up, and opened her mouth.  He held a finger to her lips.

  "I'm sorry Annie. It's....."

"Hard. I know. For both of us. I'm sorry too. A lot of adjustments. We've both lost so much. It's so easy to hold too tight." Annie pushed her chair out of the way and sat on her desk. Daniel stepped between her thighs and hugged her. She buried her face in his neck and inhaled. Daniel clutched her back.

"God, you smell so good." Annie groaned. And he did. Like coffee and history and intelligence.

Daniel smirked and was about to go lock her office door when the emergency sounds started.

  "UNATHORIZED GATE ACTIVITY!"

"I swear, I'm just gonna shoot whoever pops through that gate." Daniel chuckled. Annie so hated being denied her sex.

Sam had shared with him her research on telepaths need for tactile sensations. He'd never really been a touchy feely sort. But for Annie, it seemed like the natural thing to do. To hold and hug and kiss her. And it wasn't as if it didn't have its benefits. He never realized just how horny he WAS until he started getting a constant supply of mind blowing sex.

Right now, however, the klaxons were already lit up, and they headed to the gate room. After of course, he'd wiped his neck clear of any of Annie’s signature black lipstick. Today, Annie had gone all out. Boots, loose fishnets, and a very short black and white plaid schoolgirl skirt. Her see through long sleeved shirt was topped with a tank top bearing the mark of one of her favorite bands Lacuna Coil. Her necklaces, bracelets, and her many piercings were such a headache for the metal detectors. Even the silver beads hanging off the ends of her braided bangs went off. Her black half gloves went up half her arm. Black nails, lips, eyes, and hair up in cute little ponytails with holders decorated with skulls. Daniel winced. Sometimes, she looked a teenage girl. And he felt like a letch.

That didn't stop her from hanging off him as the wormhole blasted to life. Jack, Sam, and Teal'c had joined them, and they waited for the announcement. Hammond was standing off to the right of Walter, waiting.

"Iris code confirmed. It’s the Tok'ra."  Jack made a face. Annie giggled.

"Maybe it's Anise." Jack stuck his tongue out at her as the iris opened. In fact, it wasn't Anise but Jacob Carter.

"It's Dad!" Sam smiled and stepped forward. Jacob hugged her.

  "How ya doin kid?"

"I'm fine Dad." Hammond came into the room through the blast door.

  "Jacob."

"Hey George." They shook hands as old friends.

"Jack, Teal'c, Daniel....wha..." Jacob stopped and blinked.  Jack snorted. Annie laughed.

"It's okay, that's everyone’s first reaction. I am SO happy to meet you Sir. Sam has told me so much about you! I'm Annie White. Oh, and hi to Selmak, cuz I'm sure she's listening." She put one hand out and Jacob took it.

*THIS is Annie?* Selmak incredulously asked.

*I guess so* Jacob could feel the old Tok'ra smile.

  *Interesting Tau'ri*

  *To say the least Sel*

  *She greets us both equally*

  *That's different.*

*She is full of life. Would make an excellent host.*

*Oh please don't say that in front of Danny.*

*Oh no. That would be a bad idea indeed*

Up in the briefing room, Jacob sat down and delivered the news.

"Well, I'm afraid the news of Goth Barbie here has spread." Daniel ducked his head and rubbed the back of his neck, Annie sighed.

"How far?" Annie asked. Jacobs head dropped. When it rose and Selmak spoke, Annie, despite having never in her life seen a Tok’ra, didn't even bat an eyelash.

"We believe news of her existence has reached the System Lords." Annie blinked.

"How fast IS the interstellar grapevine?" Jacob spoke.

"Probably radio chatter." Annie threw her hands up.

"I am NEVER getting offworld." She sighed, but wrapped her arms around Daniel and nuzzling his neck. Selmak took back over.

"We do believe that would be a bad idea. If you are captured, the most likely use for you would be as a host."

Daniels mind froze and he went into an internal panic attack. Sensing the change and seeking to stop the damage, Annie rubbed his back. She went into his mind, and they met in that place where she always took him during their most pleasurable moments, soothing him with her thoughts, with memories of time they had shared, instead of letting him dwell on Sha're. She let the meeting drown out as she focused completely on keeping Daniel balanced and safe from his own fear. When it was over, Daniel shot up and out of the room, feeling suddenly nauseous. Annie went after him.

"Thanks guys, now if you'll excuse me, I have to stop my boyfriend from closing in on the idea to chain me in the basement for life." She walked out, "For cryin’ out loud...I just got him to calm the fuck down." She muttered under her breath.

She caught up with him in his office. He looked up at her, and she knew he was seeing a blurry picture of Sha're over Annie’s own image. Then one of Ammonet. She walked over to him and forced him to look at her.

"No...Daniel. See ME. Annie. See the green in my eyes. Please Daniel, don't do this to yourself. Alright, you need proof. Fine."

Annie went and locked his office door, then went about to task of taking off all her clothes. Daniel didn't seem to see her until she stood in front of him naked. Her white skin, tattooed and straight black hair such contrast to Sha're or Sarah, he had to see her. He snapped out of it.

  "Annie." Daniel breathed.

"Yeah. Annie. Look, I won't go anywhere okay? I'll stay right here in the SGC. I'll stay safe and whole. Come. Feel me. All over me. To know I’m alive and warm."

Daniel did just that. He needed to reassure himself that she was there, and not some figment of his imagination. Her warm, vital body pulsing with naquada free blood. He shoved all the papers and artifacts off the lab table, and picked her up, laying her down.

"Daniel....what are you....?" Annie had never seen it go so fast. One moment he was seized up with grief and fear, the next fairly ripping open his pants. He cried out loudly after impaling her on him. Annie gasped. Then melted. Oh yes. Yes this was good. She wrapped her legs around his waist, and met every thrust he made with a snap of her own hips. He ran his hands over everywhere. Holding the table above them while he lay on top of her. She could feel his heart pound through his black t-shirt. He sucked on her earlobe, the one with all the rings in it, licking each one. Annie wound her hands in his silky brown hair, and he just went faster.

"Annie....Annie...Annie....Annie..." He whimpered her name like a litany. He got louder and louder until she had to put her hand over his mouth. Especially after she let herself go and connected them. She made him feel her, not just in body, but in a very imprint of who he was with, who he was fucking. His whimpers became whines that became squeaks. Emotion was so thick you could cut it with a saw. Then she saw this white sheet over his consciousness and his orgasm, fortified with emotion and amplified by her own, ripped through them, and she barely had enough time to cover his mouth again before he screamed. And bury her face in his shirt before she did.

"Daniel?" She asked, rubbing his back where he'd collapsed on her. Then she felt it. He was crying against her, the reality of her an almost painful part of his healing process. Like bones knitting together. She held him with her arms and legs, rubbing his back as he cried. Tears of her own rolled down her face and into her hair.

When he raised his head, his blue eyes were almost violet with his tears. She wiped his tears from his face, and he sniffled.

"Oohhh..Oh my GOD. Annie. What the....?" He pulled out of her.

"What? Don't do the embarrassed and shy thing Daniel. It was wonderful. I didn't know you were capable of that." She smiled and kissed him.

"Are you okay now?" Daniel shook his head.

"Lets get married Annie." Annie nodded, thinking perhaps they had shorted out a few circuits.

"Okaaaay then. Come on, let’s get you some coffee."

"I'm not punch drunk from the sex Annie, I know what I want." Annie blinked as she got dressed.

"Daniel, we've known each other less than a month."

"I only knew Sha're for three days."

"Daniel. You didn't KNOW you were getting married! And she was a gift!"

"We loved each other." Annie nodded.

"And the fact that you were able to make it work is really telling...or really lucky. Either way, it's not the same." He opened his mouth to protest but Annie stopped him.

"I'll make you a deal Daniel. If you feel this exact same way in a month, one month, I'll drive us to Vegas myself. Okay?" She smiled as she fixed her lipstick.

  "Deal. Wait....Annie.....you don't have a drivers license."

"I know...won't it be fun?" She laughed. Daniel rolled his eyes.

"Look Annie. I'll see about getting you offworld. As long as Sam and Jack say you're ready," He sighed. "I won't let them destroy any part of us. I think they've taken enough."

  "Really?!" She asked excitedly.

"And Jacks right.....you're going to need more......reliable clothes." He smirked, "As much as I love these skirts." He smacked her ass as they left his office. She yelped delightedly.

Sam was just rounding the corner as they came out, all smiles.

"Is everything alright?" She asked, "I know what dad said must've upset you."

"Everything's fine Sam. We were just headed to dinner. You wanna come?"

"Sure...lets find the Colonel." Sam looked into Daniels office.

"Daniel, there’s papers all over your floor." Annie snorted, and Daniel hushed her.

"Yeah...a little accident.....I'll clean it up after I have dinner."

"Oh okay." Sam frowned. Daniel wasn't the type to have accidents. He was meticulous. Then she saw the hickey on Daniels throat that hadn't been there an hour ago. Oh my....

Jack and Teal'c looked up when they heard the storm that was Annie coming. She was walking backwards while talking animatedly, waving a lollipop around. She turned.

"Hey Jack, we were just looking for you. Hi Teal'c!" She put the pop back in her mouth. She looked about 16 like that. As a parent, Jack shook his head. Annie was getting to him. Under his skin, to the places he thought were dead. Then, Annie seemed to be a master at bringing dead things to life.

"Gimme." Daniel looked at Annie. She sneered and gave Daniel the lollipop.

"I'm trying to cut down on her sugar intake. I actually caught her dipping one of these into her Red Bull last night."

"They taste better that way." Annie whined, and then smirked, "A lot of things do."

Jack and Sam both choked. Daniel closed his eyes and put his head on the table. Annie took the opportunity to pluck her lollipop from Daniels hand.

"Thank you!" She giggled, and put it back in her mouth. The table burst into fits of laughter.

Even Teal'c smiled. AnnieWhite was a strange Tau'ri indeed, but she seemed to make his friends happy. For this he would offer her protection and his friendship in return.

That night, with Annie asleep on his chest and one of her legs between his, Daniel looked around. The full moon was shining down through the skylight. It made Annie’s skin glow. She moved, wrapping one arm over his waist. He made sure the sheets were up to keep Annie warm. He thought to make sure the security system was armed. She stirred, opened her huge green eyes.

"Sleep baby. I'm safe, warm, full, and sated. I think all the bases are covered."

Daniel nodded, kissed the top of her head, put his hand on her back, and closed his eyes. She licked her lips. She didn't like to do this, but after today.....She closed her eyes, and made sure he would only dream what she did. Their breathing evened out. He protected her, and she protected him. Some nights, that's all that really matters.
