What Comes Of Dreams Chapter 17 Chena quietly moved about the cave in which she now
lived. She had managed to escape the
slaughter of the village she was living in with her adopted human family when
the Goa’uld, Zor, and his Jaffa had besieged the
planet. After they were done, nothing
was left standing and much of the land was now unusable. Often one or another of the Goa’uld ships
would come here and dump their garbage and broken things. Always, when she heard the approach of their
ships, she hid in the many caves that were scattered throughout the land. She had been alone here for many years, but
now she was no longer alone and it made her very happy. Having
finished with what she was doing, Chena knelt down beside the slumbering human
called, Daniel, and brushed the hair out of his face. She had checked him over earlier and found
that his injuries were healed and all the bruises completely gone. At first it had worried here that he had been
asleep for several days, but she figured that the grok did not heal humans as
easily as it did her kind. As she was
getting up, Daniel began to murmur in his sleep so she bent down to listen. “Sam,
Jolinar, Anise, Freya, where are y’all at?”
Daniel whimpered. “I can not find
you, where have y’all gone.” In
Daniel’s mind, he dreamed that he was running through the tunnels of a Tok’ra
base trying to find the women that he loved.
Everywhere that he looked, there was no sign of them or anyone else. Every once in a while he thought he heard
signs of them, but when he would get to where he thought the sound came from,
there was nothing. His concern for their
welfare continued to rise as he kept calling out for them while searching. Chena
did not know the names that Daniel called out in his sleep, but there was no
mistaking the concern for them or the tone of love. She knew that she was not a human and could
not have a relationship with him as she had seen human women have with human
men, but she found herself strangely attracted to him, especially when she
looked into his beautiful blue eyes…never had she seen eyes like his. Silently she stood up from where she was and
snuck out of the cave to go search the piles of stuff left behind by the
Goa’uld. “Silly Chena.” She chided herself. “He is human and not for you. The most you can hope for from his is
friendship.” The reasonable side of her
mind stated. The
unreasonable side thought entirely differently.
“He is a male and you are a female.
Surely he will see that and think of you as a woman.” “Silly,
stupid woman I am.” Chena argued. “I do not look like human women; I am
Unas. Besides, he loves others already. It is not right for me to try and take their
place with him.” “Fine…be
that way.” The unreasonable side of her huffed in her mind. Reaching
the dumping ground, Chena shook her self out of the thoughts of what could not
be and set about searching for anything usable.
After about half an hour of searching, she came across a strange black
vest with stuff attached to it. When she
looked at a label on the front, she saw that the figures matched those on
Daniel’s clothes. Figuring that he would
know what to make of it, she gathered it up and headed back to the cave. End Chapter Seventeen of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
