What Comes Of Dreams Chapter 18 Samantha
slowly came into consciousness and found herself restrained to a hospital
bed. As she struggled with the bindings,
images of what she had recently done came flooding back into her mind. She stopped struggling and started sobbing silently
to herself. ~
“That is enough, child.” Jolinar gently chided. “I am to blame for what has
happened.” ~ ~ “No, Jolinar. I did
those things as well. I was so angry.”
Samantha sobbed to her partner.” ~ ~ “Your anger would not have been so destructive if it had not been
influenced by my own.” Jolinar soothed. “I failed to keep my feelings
from bleeding over into yours, for that I am sorry.” ~ ~ “No, Joli…No.” Sam pleaded. “I never want you to think that you have to
hold back on your feelings and thoughts with me. We are both guilty in what we did, I am so ashamed at myself. God, I took a life with my bare hands after
torturing the poor host’s body.” ~ ~
“As you said, my Sama, we are both guilty.” Jolinar said stroking her host from the inside. “We were both beyond rationality in what we
did. We were both hurting because of the
loss of Daniel, Freya, Anise, and so many of the Tok’ra we know.” ~ ~ “Our friends will never trust us again.” Sam sobbed.
“Daniel will never love us when he finds out what we did. We have forever lost him.” Samantha said
completely falling into her grief. ~
“You know our Daniel better than that.” Jolinar cajoled. “Our Daniel and our friends will know that we
were lost to our pain. They will be
worried for us as your father now sits in this room watching us with worry.” ~ Opening
her eyes and wishing she could wipe the tears away, Sam slowly turned her head
in the direction where she felt the presence of her father and Selmak. No sooner had she started turning her head,
than she felt the dad slowly wiping the tears away as he stood by the side of
her bed. “Do
not cry, Sammie.” Jacob said in a emotional voice. “Nobody
here thinks any less of you for what happened.
Teal’c was quite impressed with what you did. He said that it was a truly fitting end for
something so abominable and without honor.” Sam
sniffed back some tears as she gazed at her dad and listened to what he had to
say. “Dad,
Selmak, what we did was so awful…we tortured the poor host while trying to get
the information from the Goa’uld.”
Samantha cried. “We were no
better than the Goa’uld. How can any of
you ever look at us with anything but revulsion?” “Samantha,”
Selmak said firmly, “the host was no more.
The Goa’uld said that he had destroyed the host’s mind with a piece of
technology made by Anubis. The only
thing you did was harm the Goa’uld itself.
Nobody finds revulsion with you or your actions.” Nodding
her head and looking into her father and Selmak’s eyes searching for the truth,
she relaxed when she only saw love and worry. “Selmak,
how long have my Samantha and I been unconscious?” Jolinar inquired with worry. “You
have been unconscious for 56 Tau’ri hours.” Selmak
replied with mild concern. “Why do you
ask?” Pulling
on her bonds to try and get free, Samantha started panicking. Placing steadying hands on her, Jacob pushed
her back into the bad and held her there. “Sam,
stop struggling.” Jacob ordered. “What is going on? Why are you getting upset again?” “Dad,
quickly, is Thor still around?” Sam said
in a rush trying to keep the growing panic from coming back. “Yes,
he is still in orbit. The Asgard
scientist is still working on the AI interface and device. Jacob replied quizzically. “Why, does that matter now?” “Thor
may know more about this, Lord Zor that Teal’c heard the Goa’uld spy talking
to.” Samantha stated with a pleading
voice. “We need to ask and see what he
knows. It may be possible to find Daniel
before, before…” Sam started crying again. “I
will get George to send a message to Thor and see what they know.” Jacob said stroking his daughter’s hair as he
would do when she was a child. “You need
to calm yourself. We do not know that
the Goa’uld spy was bluffing about Daniel being implanted. He probably only said that to provoke you.” All
conversation ended as Sam disappeared in a flash of white light leaving a
stunned Jacob staring at an empty bed.
Recovering quickly from his daughter’s sudden disappearance, Jacob took
off at a dash for the control room to see if Thor had been responsible. Not wanting to waste time waiting for the
elevator, Jacob took the stairs and started several airmen as he crashed
through the door on level 27. Not
bothering to slow in his head long run, Jacob pounded into the gate control
room. “Get
Thor on the line, now!” Jacob shouted. Not
even bothering to question the once two-star General, MSgt. Harriman activated
the Asgard communication system. Seconds
later Thor’s image appeared on the view screen. “This
is Thor, what is the matter?” Thor asked
seeing the look of worry on Jacob Carter’s face. “Thor, did you or any of the other Asgard just beam Sam out
of the infirmary?’ Jacob asked in a
rush. Looking
a little confused, Thor responded. “No,
Jacob Carter, we have not. What has
occurred?” Getting
a sinking feeling in his stomach, Jacob replied. “I was talking with Sammie in the infirmary
where she has been for the past several days after an incident down here. She disappeared in a bright flash of white
light. It looked like an Asgard
teleport. Can you detect cloaked Goa’uld
vessels?” Becoming
more concerned with this turn of events, Thor did not answer for several
minutes as he worked the controls on his chair.
Turning back to the screen, Jacob swore that the little alien was
wearing a frown. “I
have done a sweep of this solar system and there are no cloaked ships, Goa’uld
or otherwise. I did not detect any
abnormal energy signature in the area of Earth either.” Thor replied. About
this time, word had reached the rest of the SG1 team about Jacob’s manic run
through the SGC and they came running into the control room followed quickly by
General Hammond. Not even bothering to
take into account that Jacob was talking with Thor, Jack blurted out. “Jacob, what the hell is going on? Why aren’t you with Carter?” Turning
on hearing Jack’s outburst, Selmak took control. “Samantha was teleported out of the infirmary
and Thor just confirmed that it was not them.” “What?” Jack exclaimed even louder than his initial
outburst. “Teleported out and Thor did
not do it. Is there anyone else around?” “As
I just informed Jacob Carter, O’Neill, there is nothing in the vicinity that
could have done this.” Thor stated
taking up the conversation. “This is
most unusual and alarming.” “When
MajorCarter was taken, was only she taken and not also the bed she was
restrained to?” Teal’c asked in a calm
voice. Thinking
for a moment, Selmak nodded his head in confirmation. “Only she was taken, her restraints and the
bed were simply empty after the bright flash of light subsided.” “Then
it could not have been any enemy or friend we currently have that could have
taken her.” Teal’c said with logic. “All
those we know with teleport technology would have also taken the bed she was
in.” “You
are correct, Teal’c.” Thor
commented. “The beam would have also
captured that which she was attached to, in this case being the infirmary bed.” Thor
did not talk for several minutes as he scanned for energy signature within the
infirmary area. “I have just scanned the
infirmary area and only picked up a trace energy signature. The information matches only one other
recording in our database of such energy.
It is similar to the pattern we found when scanning the ruins where
O’Neill had the Ancient repository downloaded into him.” “But
there are no Ancients alive anymore, they are all ascended.” Jack blurted out in frustration. “That
is correct, O’Neill. However, the energy
patterns do match.” Thor replied. “Let
me get this right,” General Hammond interrupted, “are you telling me that the
ascended Ancients abducted Major Carter?” “Indeed”
Teal’c replied with a raised eyebrow.
“But for what purpose? Have they
not refused to interfere with us on other occasions?’ “Yeah,
they gave Danny the old heave-ho when he interfered while he was ascended.”
Jack said caustically. “Thor,
just before Sam was taken we were going to see if you have any information on a
Goa’uld known as, Zor.” Selmak said turning to the monitor. “Maybe that would give us a starting point.” “Zor is a minor Goa’uld that only has a single planet under
is direct control.” Thor replied. “Why is it that you ask?” “We
found a spy that was working with Zor, he was responsible for the destruction of an entire Tok’ra
base a few days ago.” Selmak said with a
touch of anger in his voice. “He had
taken over the body that was once host to Per’sus. Teal’c caught him in conversation with Zor and captured him.
He was killed by Jolinar and Samantha.” “I
regret that I am unable to provide you with information as to Zor’s planet. That
is restricted by treaty.” Thor
apologized. Just
as Jack was about to shout something, a sudden peace came over everyone and
they stood staring at one another in confusion.
Seeing the sudden change come over the Tau’ri,
Thor spoke up. “Is
anything the matter, O’Neill?” Thor asked the perplexed group. “Nah,
Thor, everything is okay.” Jack replied
still confused. “We will just have to
wait for Danny and Carter to return.” “Very well. If you
need our assistance, please contact us.”
Thor stated with a little confusion as to the sudden change. “We will be in orbit for some time while the
AI and interface are finished up.” “Thanks
Thor.” O’Neill said shaking out of his
confusion. An
invisible figure floated off to one side of the room, nodding in satisfaction
that those present would not pursue the situation any further for now. There was much to do and much that yet needed
to occur before these individuals could look for their friends. End Chapter Eighteen of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
