What Comes Of Dreams Chapter 22 Slowly
the light that surrounded the body of Jolinar/Samantha Carter changed color to
that off a soft pink and began to diminish in intensity. Both, Shifu and
Oma, panted with the exertion this effort took, but smiled none the less. The changes had been made and a new future
set for the Tok’ra and the Tauri alike.
Nodding her head to Shifu, Oma turned back
into a ball of light and flew upwards into the heavens. Shifu,
kneeled down beside the sleeping form of Jolinar/Samantha and placed his palm
on her forehead, closing his eyes, he allowed information to flow from his mind
to hers. After what seemed like the
blink of an eye, he removed his hand from her head and gently shook her
shoulder to awaken her. Samantha’s
eyes drifted open and she looked around herself in confusion. Kneeling beside her was a young man, dressed
in monk’s robes and he looked vaguely familiar to her. Taking a few seconds for her mind to catch
up, she realized that Jolinar was sleeping and that her body felt a bit
different. “Shifu?” Sam asked with a hesitant voice. “Yes,
Samantha.” Shifu
responded. “Do not be alarmed, you are
safe and without harm.” Sitting
up, Samantha looked around the area and it was nothing but whiteness stretching
as far as she could see. Remembering the
description Daniel had given her off the place Oma had taken him when he was
dying from the radiation poisoning, dread set into her heart. “Am
I dead or dying?” Samantha asked with
stricken eyes. “No,
you are well.” Shifu
responded with a smile. “The Others decided that there was something that could be done
to help rectify the problems that the “non-interference” policy created. You should be proud of Daniel, for without
his passionate pleas for help, this would not have been possible.” “I
am confused, what are you talking about?”
Sam said in bafflement. With
a small laugh, Shifu folded his legs and sat down
next to Samantha. “We know that the
Tok’ra are a dying species. Though they are like the Goa’uld, they are
unalike. The thing that makes them
different is the information and beliefs passed to them by Egeria
when she spawned them.” “Pardon
me, but I know all of that from talking with my father and the other
Tok’ra.” Sam said a little
impatiently. “What I would like to know
is what have you and these “Others” done?” Shaking
his head with a soft chuckle, Shifu could only think
of how much like Daniel that Samantha really was; two souls so alike that one
could almost not distinguish between them. “We
brought you to a place close to our plane to impart a change upon you and your
Tok’ra symbiote.” Shifu
replied directly. “She and you will now
be the ones to further their cause and to continue their legacy. To ensure this, we have imparted the
knowledge of things that Egeria once held directly to
Jolinar.” Gaping
at what she had just heard, it took Samantha several long seconds to get her
voice to work. “Holy
Hanna!” she
gasped out. “You turned Joli into a
queen?” Laughing
at the fish-like look on Sam’s face, Shifu had to
turn his head in order to recompose himself.
But could these Tauri come up with some interesting facial and
vernacular expressions. “Yes.” Shifu said
smiling. “Though, it will be some time
yet before she is able to awaken and a little longer after that before she is
capable of taking on her role as a queen.
We have also done something to help fulfill a dream of Daniel’s and
yourself. We have reversed some of the
years and undone some of what makes it impossible for you to conceive.” “Holy shit!” Sam
exclaimed with a wide grin. “You mean to
tell me that Daniel and I will now be able to have children of our own?” “Such language from someone so smart.” Shifu
gently chided while chuckling. “Yes, as
a matter of fact.” Leaping
up and throwing her arms around Shifu’s neck, Sam
could not help but to hug him with all that she was. The sheer amount of happiness inside of her
was beyond anything that she had ever felt. A
sudden realization just as quickly dampened that feeling of sheer joy; Daniel
was missing and there was no telling when or if she would ever see him
again. Sam was still holding onto Shifu’s neck when she began to cry. Realizing
the sudden change in Samantha’s mood, Shifu wrapped
his arms around her as he had often watched Daniel do and slowly rubbed her
back. “Why do you cry when you have been
given such good news?” Shifu asked in nothing more
than a whisper. “Daniel
is gone, taken from us, and we have no idea if or when we will ever see him
again.” Sam said between sobs. “I am so afraid that he will not be my Daniel
when and if we do see him again.” Gently
pushing Samantha back away from him, Shifu set her at
arm’s length away from himself. “You
have nothing to fear young one. Daniel
will return to you in time and without harm.
He is at this moment doing that which must be done and can be done by no
other. You must hold onto hope and trust
in him.” Gazing
up into the heavens above, Shifu’s eyes took on a far
away look for a few seconds like he was listening to something that only he
could hear. Turning his eyes back to
Samantha, he had a slightly goofy grin on his face. Sam thought that grin reminded her so much of
Daniel it was uncanny. “You
will be reunited with my fath….Daniel before
long.” Shifu
said with a small amount of pride in his voice.
“He has already accomplished one of the tasks that were set for
him. No, the time of your and his
reunion is not far off now.” “You
were about to call him your father, weren’t you?” Samantha asked Shifu. “Even
though I know that he is not the one that contributed to my being, he was the
husband of my mother and I guess that is the way that I view him.” Shifu
responded. “The year that he was amongst
us, he spent a great deal of time with me, though he does not remember. That time showed me much about whom he was
and why my mother loved him so deeply.” Seeing
a sadness pass through Sam’s eyes, Shifu placed his
fingers under her chin and lifted her eyes to meet his. “Do not think the love he has for my mother
subtracts from what he has for you. It is
true that there will always be a part of his heart that was and is her’s, but he is far more in love with you than he ever
loves with her. You are two of one heart
and two of one soul.” Nodding
her head as a single tear fell slid down her cheek, Samantha quickly ducked her
head. “You sound so much like Daniel
when you spoke like that. I feel so
ashamed of being jealous of the feelings I know he has for Sha’re.” “You
should not feel shame for that which you feel.”
Shifu admonished. “However, you should not hold yourself back
from loving him with all that you have because of what came before.” Looking
up into Shifu’s eyes, Sam nodded her head and vowed
to herself not to hold back any longer in how she felt for Daniel. She would make sure that he knew the fullness
of the love that she has for him. Sensing
the first signs of Jolinar starting to revive, Shifu
once again spoke. “The time of your
symbiote to awaken is approaching. I
will send you back to where you were for there is much that is happening and
much for you to discuss with her. Know
this; you time away from the one you love will not be much longer.” With
a wave of his hand, a bright white light engulfed Samantha/Jolinar and when it
cleared, they found themselves in her lab back in the SGC. End Chapter Twenty-Two of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
