What Comes Of Dreams Chapter 23 Jack
had been spending his time divided between sitting in Daniel’s office and Sam’s
lab wondering when and if he would see his friends again. Daniel had been kidnapped right out from
under his nose during a mission, and Sam had been taken right out of the
infirmary. After
the fiasco of the way Jolinar had wrecked the infirmary in her blood rage
against that Goa’uld agent, Jack had come to realize just how much Carter had
cared about Daniel, and he also realized that he never wanted to be caught in
the way of anything his 2IC really cared about.
While the sheer destruction was scary, it was also a sight to behold. At
this time, Jack was sitting on the stool behind Sam’s bench fiddling with a
device she had been playing with before Daniel came to only a few days
ago. A startling flash of white light
temporarily blinded him and he dropped the device back onto the workbench as he
reached to shield his eyes. By the time
the light had cleared and he could once again see,
Jack was stunned to see the subject of his thoughts standing in the middle of
the room. “Sam!” he shouted as he ran
around the workbench and grabbed her up in a bear hug that was anything but
professional. “What happened to you?” A
passing airman in the hallway overheard Colonel O’Neill yelling Major Carter’s
first name and immediately beat a quick path to the nearest phone to call
General Hammond. “Jack.” Samantha said in a slightly shocked
voice. “What are you doing here?? Stepping
back and looking down at his feet, Jack kicked at invisible rocks for a few
seconds before responding. “After
you disappeared from the infirmary, we hunted to base and had Thor check our
area of space for you. After you could
not be found, I kinda started split my time between here and Daniel’s office
hoping that y’all would show up or I would get an idea of where y’all had
gone.” Jack spoke in a rush. “Oh.”
Sam replied in astonishment at the uncharacteristic display of worry. “I was taken by Shifu.” Looking
at Sam as if she had suddenly grown a second head, Jack responded. “Taken by Shifu,
why would he take you?” “Well,
that is kinda hard to explain, we do not fully understand how, just what was
done.” Sam started. Before
she could get any further in the conversation, Sam let out a shriek as she was
engulfed in a tight hug and lifted off the ground in a spinning motion. “Sammie!” Jacob was
yelling with happiness. “When George got
the call that you were back, I could not get here fast enough.” He said as he continued to spin his daughter
around in the air. Laughing,
Samantha started swatting at her dad’s arms.
“Let me down dad…it is great to see you to.” Just
as Sam was lowered to the ground and the bruising hug was release, Samantha
found herself hauled into the barrel chest of one very please Jaffa. Knowing that she would not be able to break
out of this hug, Sam quickly turned her head to the side before she found
herself suffocating between Teal’c’s mammoth pecks. “It
is indeed great to see you well.” Teal’c
said grinning as he set Sam back from him.
“We were all quite disturbed to find you had been taken from the
infirmary.” “Thanks
T, thanks dad.” Sam said wiping tears
from her eyes. “I am sorry that y’all
worried so much.” “What
happened Sammie, who took you?” Jacob broke in. Sam
was about to say that maybe they should go to the conference room when she
spotted General Hammond stepping in through her lab doorway and Thor beaming
down just to Jack’s left. Quickly
crossing the room, Sam closed the door behind General Hammond and reached up
and unplugged the security camera in the corner near the door. “Since
everyone is here, I can tell you all at once.”
Sam began. “You all might want to
sit down for this…I know I need to.” Jack
pushed stools over for General Hammond and Jacob Carter to use as he reclined
against the workbench. Teal’c did not
bother to sit as he assumed a parade rest stance. Taking a chair that was near another bench,
Sam sat down and starred at here hands while trying to organize her thoughts. ~ “My Samantha.”
Jolinar spoke in a slightly bewildered voice. “Are the memories in my mind true?” ~ ~
“Yes, Joli, they are.” Sam replied with
a smile. “Shifu
and the Others have changed both of us. They have made it so that I can have children
with Daniel, and you are now a Queen.” ~ ~
“Not just Shifu, I remember seeing Oma before I went
to sleep.” Jolinar said in shock.”`~ ~
“Holy Hanna…Oma was there?” Sam asked
her life-partner. ~ ~
“Yes, the being said here name was Oma and that she was an Ancient.” Jolinar related. “Then she waved her arm and that is the last
I remember.” ~ ~
“Well, Shifu said that they gave you the knowledge of
Egeria.” Sam
started. “I do not know how they would
have done that, but it must be in our head somewhere.” ~ ~
“You are right my Samantha.” Jolinar
replied with awe. “I do feel like there
is something here…I must look into it.
Do you mind if I work on that for a bit?” ~ ~ “Not at all Joli.”
Sam said smiling internally at her partner. “I can explain to everyone here what I know
why you look.” ~ Returning
her gaze to those in the room, Sam looked a little sheepish for a few
seconds. “Sorry, Jolinar just now woke
up and had a few questions.” “Just
now woke up?” Jacob asked in
bafflement. “When did she go to sleep?” “Uh, just after “Carter,
that was more than twelve hours ago.”
O’Neill jumped in. “Where have
y’all been and what is going on?” “Wow,
that long…I had no idea”
Samantha said in amazement.
“Let me just start of by saying that Shifu
told me Daniel is okay and will be back soon, though he did not say when
exactly or how long from now soon is.” A
collective sigh was heard from everyone in the room. “I
take it that Oma and company have Daniel out there somewhere doing something of
great importance?” Jack said waiving his
hand around in the air. “Shifu said that there were tasks that only Daniel could
accomplish and that he had already finished one of them.” Sam said looking from face to face. “He did not say what the tasks were, only
that Daniel must do them and that he was not harmed.” “Well,
that is good news.’ General Hammond
replied. “I am sure that whatever they
have Daniel doing is going to make quite and interesting briefing.” Thor
gazed on as everyone fell into silence before he broke into the lull. “Major Carter, for what reason did the
Ancients and the Harcesis take you?” “Oh
well, that is kinda hard to explain.”
Sam said nervously. “I do not
know how they did what they did, but they did a few things as a kind of a way
to make up for things that their “non-interference” policy have done.” “What things, exactly?”
Jack said with a bit of irrationality in his voice. “Well,
uhm…let me start out by saying that they told me they
fixed a few problems for some people.”
Sam said as if stalling. “You
seem uncomfortable and are stalling in your answers.” Teal’c intoned. “Have they done something to you or
DanielJackson?” “They
have not done anything to Daniel,” Sam said with renewed strength, “but, they
kind of did some things to me and Jolinar.” Receiving
a comforting hug from her symbiote, Samantha continued on. “First off, they said that they fixed my
inability to have kids with Daniel.” Sam
said with a blush creeping into her cheeks that Jolinar did not catch because
her attention was diverted. With
a loud guffaw, Jacob slapped his knees in happiness. “Well, I guess I will have some more
grandkids before long.” Starring
at her father with her mouth hanging open Sam found herself shocked by here
dad’s declaration. “You mean you
wouldn’t be upset by Daniel and I having kids, dad?” “Of course not Sammie.”
Jacob said smiling. “I have been
hoping for a long time that you two would get together and give me some new
grandkids.” “Be
careful what you ask for there Jacob.”
Jack said wise-cracking. “With
the combined IQ of the parents, those grandkids are going to be damn trouble.” “Indeed.” Teal’c deadpanned. “Their intelligence will be quite
formidable.” George
Hammond only sat in his chair chuckling at the comments and the images going
through his mind of the antics offspring of Daniel and Samantha could get up
to. His own grandkids were a handful and
had no where near the intelligence level of his favorite two people he thought
of as his kids. “There
is something else.” Samantha said with
trepidation. “They also changed
Jolinar.” With
worry in his voice, Selmak addressed Samantha.
“What exactly have they done to Jolinar, Samantha?” Looking
at those in the room with a bit of fear at what they may think of the news, Sam
was scarred to continue. “It
is alright, Sammie.” Jacob said in a
comforting voice. “You do not need to be
afraid of us.” “It
is not like they could turn her into not being a snake.” Jack joked. Glaring
rays of death at Jack, Sam momentarily clenched her jaw. “Actually, Sir, Shifu
said that the Ancients and the Others view the Tok’ra
as a separate species from the Goa’uld.”
Sam growled. Holding
his hands up in surrender, Jack felt like he was two inches tall and Sam was
about ready to squish him with her military issue boots. “I am sorry, I did
not mean it to sound like that.” Softening
her demeanor, Sam looked back at Jacob/Selmak to watch for how he would respond
to what she was about to say. “They gave
Jolinar the knowledge once held by Egeria,
and…and…they turned her into a queen.” Sam
squeezed her eyes tight not wanting to see the anger she feared would flare in
her dad’s eyes and waited for the harsh words; all that she heard was complete
silence. End Chapter Twenty-Three of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
