What Comes Of Dreams Chapter 37 Although
he was relieved to see that Daniel has somehow managed to rid himself of the
symbiote, Teal’c’s practical side took hold. “MajorCarter,’
Teal’c intoned. “I believe that we
should exercise caution with DanielJackson as this may only be a ruse by the
Goa’uld that entered his body.” Nodding
her head, Samantha took a second to concentrate and search for any signs of a
Goa’uld presence within her lover.
Remembering that the symbiotes on this planet did not carry naquada in
their system, she let her chin drop down to her chest but refused to stop
holding the man she loved. “I
can not sense anything.” Sam began. “But these Goa’uld symbiotes do not have
naquada in them, so I wouldn’t be able to anyway.” Stepping
over to his daughter, Jacob laid a comforting hand on his daughter’s shoulder,
which she acknowledged by rubbing her cheek against it. Not knowing what to say or do, Jacob decided
to ask Selmak what she thought. ~
“Sel, is there any way other than going back to the
SGC to find out if there is a symbiote inside of Danny?” Jacob asked Selmak. ~ The
chuckle from his symbiote could not be mistaken and started making the one-time
general feel like he was about to be made out to be a fool. ~
“Sure there is.” Sel responded with mirth. “We could use the healing device to check him
and at the same time fix any damage that may have been caused by the symbiote’s passing. Especially seeing the amount of blood on the ground.” ~ Slapping
his palm to his forehead, Jacob exclaimed.
“Of course, I am such and idiot!” Hearing
her dad’s exclamation and unusual admittance to something he failed at thinking
of, Sam looked up at her father in concern, as did the others in the group. “Sorry,
Sel just reminded me that we can use the healing
device to check for the presence of a symbiote inside Danny.” Jacob relayed to the bewildered party. Pulling
the Goa’uld healing device from his pocket and placing it on his hand, Jacob
turned over control of his body to Selmak who quickly knelt down next to
Daniel’s head. Slipping into an intense
concentration, the healing device activated and Selmak slowly passed it from
Daniel’s head, down his spine, and back up again. Deactivating the device, Selmak only sat
staring at Daniel with a mixture of awe and bewilderment, not realizing that
she was scarring Samantha and the others.
“That is
odd.” Selmak’s dual voice echoed out in as much a whisper is possible for a
symbiote. “Well?”
Jack asked in exasperation. “Is he
snake-free or not?” Shaking
herself from her confusion, Selmak looked up into the expectant faces of SG1
and company. “There is
no sign of a symbiote or that there was ever one. Nor is there any damage from what would be
expected from what we just witnessed.” “So, are
you saying that the symbiote left Daniel of its own accord?” Jack asked with worry and relief at the same
time. “Yes, but
a Goa’uld symbiote would not heal the damage left by such a passing.” Jacob replied. “So how
did Daniel heal?” Sam asked looking
slightly less worried. “I can not
say, for I have no idea, Sammy.” Jacob
confessed with a shrug. “It is the
grok.” Chena chimed in as she stood as
if nothing more needed to be said. “What do
you mean “the grok”?” O’Neill asked in a
gruff voice. “Wait a
minute. Are you talking about that stuff
that Daniel brought back with him from that planet he met you on?” Carter asked. “Yes.” Chena replied. “When I found him, he was injured badly. I gave him grok to heal him. I have not seen it last for so long before
though.” As
everyone continued to mull this over in the heads, the male Unas that had
appeared earlier and started the whole problem with Daniel being taken as a
host, rushed over and grabbed Chena by the arms to start pulling her away from
the group. No more than he had done this
and Chena screamed out in fright, than Daniel jumped up from where he was
laying and grappled the Unas. As
everyone watched in surprise, Daniel fought Chena free of the male’s grip and
then picked him up off the ground and through him back a good ten feet or
more. As the male was getting to his
feet, Daniel took a defensive position in front of Chena and guarded against
any more attacks from him. Everyone was
gaping at what they had just seen and were feeling a little worried at the
speed and strength that Daniel had inexplicably displayed. Before
anyone had a chance to voice even a syllable, the male Unas charged at Daniel
again trying to ram him as he had done earlier.
Daniel used a side-stepping technique to dodge out of the way and
retaliated with a dropping roundhouse to the shoulders of the Unas, bringing it
down to its knees. Taking the
opportunity presented with the male on its knees, Daniel placed it in a sleeper
hold and held it while it tried to struggle free until it went limp. Releasing his hold, Daniel carefully lowered
the Unas to the ground and spun around to face the tree-line. Unknown to
everyone, a pack of Unas had been hiding in the trees while watching what had
been happening for the last few minutes.
They had witnessed everything from the time Chena had arrived at the
water’s edge till the moment that Daniel had lowered their leader to the
ground. Deciding that a new pack leader
had been secured through combat, they decided to leave the protection of the
trees. As
everyone watched, yet not fully comprehending what had just happened, a pack of
Unas slowly crept out of the trees and stopped about five yards from
Daniel. Without even looking at the
others that were with Daniel, the Unas all dropped down in various poses of
subservience and waited for their new leader to tell them what to do. End Chapter Thirty-Seven of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
