Love's Sweet Release Chapter Eight Daniel was dressed in a black robe with crimson swirls as he followed in the middle of two priests in front and two priestesses behind, all dressed in simpler versions of the robe he wore. He couldn’t help but think that if these had been Jaffa, he would most assuredly be a prisoner. The fact that none of the priests or priestesses spoke to him, made him feel a bit unsure of what was about to transpire. All during the procession from his room to the main hall, Daniel looked around to see Egyptian glyphs lining the walls. Here and there Daniel caught glimpses of Jaffa in black and gold armor. As they passed one room, Daniel saw that several “workers” were busy shoving what looked like the remains of Kull warriors into some type of chute. It seemed like they had crossed a good distance when he was finally led up to gigantic double-doors made of marble. The priests used ornamental mallets they had been carrying with them and each struck thrice times on the door directly in front of each. Then the priests and priestesses moved off to the sides, each paired. As soon as the priests and priestesses where in their positions, the doors slowly opened to reveal the inside of an enormous hall. Directly across and at the far end of the hall from where he stood, Daniel could see Omanet and Isis sitting on their thrones. Directly in the middle of each of their thrones sat an empty throne, all three were of equal height and position. From all that he had learned, Daniel knew that this was not usual…the consort was never on the same level as the Queen or King. It seemed that he had not been told an untruth; they were sharing all that they had with him. With the importance of what was about to happen becoming reality to him, Daniel stood with his back straight and walked as if he was born of nobility. Looking out the sides of eyes, Daniel could see that along the back walls stood more Jaffa dressed in black and gold armor. Standing between the walkway and the Jaffa, Daniel could see that importance dictated your position in the room. Closest to the door were the workers in the holdings, a couple of empty rows ahead of them were the servants of the castle, a couple of empty rows ahead of them were the minor “nobles” of the holdings, a couple of empty rows ahead of them were major “nobles” of the holdings, and several empty rows ahead of them were priests and priestesses of both Isis and Omanet. During his walk, Daniel noticed that the people here were all intermixed. The symbol indicating who they “belonged” to was of both Isis and Omanet, it was not as he would expect to see with all of Isis’ on one side and all of Omanet’s on the other. All in all, Daniel would have to say that there were probably more than a thousand people here. As he neared the steps that led up to the dais the thrones sat on, Daniel knelt down with his head bowed. He could hear the robes of both Isis and Omanet rustle as they stood and took one step down towards him. His heart stopped beating as he half expected for the order to come to kill him, but instead the combined voices of Omanet and Isis in their dual quality rang out around the room, “Rise Dan’yel, take one step up, and turn to face those gathered here today.” Daniel rose to his feet and turned to face the gathered people, his heart still refusing to beat, and his lungs unwilling to take in air. “Before you all stands one that has held the hearts of our hosts for a long time. So has his love enthralled the hosts, it has captured our hearts. We declare that, Dan’yel, shall be our joint Consort. He shall be treated as the title bespeaks, and he shall be duty bound as the title bespeaks. Now face us, Dan’yel.”, both women spoke in unison. Turning around, Daniel knew what he must do next. When he saw Omanet and Isis begin to take a step down he took a step up, meeting them on the center step. Each of the women took a bracer from their waiting Lo’tar and took one of Daniel’s wrists a piece. With a bracer over each wrist, Daniel could feel as they were clamped shut and could see that each bore the symbol for the one that had placed it on him. “With these, as symbols of our love we make it known to all that you are our Beloved.”, the two women said in unison. Seeing that the Lo’tar for each had moved behind their mistress, Daniel took note that there were two bracers left on the silver plates they held out in front of them. Reaching out and taking the bracers in each hand, Daniel saw that they had a symbol for him on them, the Ancient Egyptian symbol that would represent his name. Holding the bracers with his palm open and facing up, Daniel turned to face the crowd. Holding the bracers in front of him so all could see, Daniel announced what he new was expected, “I, Daniel, declare to all that as I am bound, so are those that bind me. I will uphold the duties for which I am from this point forward entrusted.” With that, as one, Daniel and the women on either side of him held their arms up, bent at the elbow, for all to see that they wore matching bracers. Upon the bracers contacting one another, a red aura that was visible to all surrounded the three for several seconds and then absorbed into their bracers, uniting all three of their hearts to beat as one. The head priest for both temples then approached Daniel with a large Onyx goblet. Taking the goblet from the priest’s hands, Daniel bowed his head momentarily in recognition of the priest. Holding the cup with his right hand, Daniel allowed the priest to cut his thumb enough for three drops of blood to drip into the cup. Omanet and Isis then placed a hand each over the chalice and allowed the priest to do the same to them. The priest then sprinkled a powder into the chalice, which then erupted with a golden flame. Bowing his head to each of those in front of him the priest took two steps down and turned to face the crowd. “With the sharing of blood and the casting of the ancient dust, the Flame of Unity has given proof to this matching.”, the priest uttered. Quickly, two priestesses, one from each temple, stepped forward and held out smaller Onyx goblets. Daniel carefully poured the infused wine from the larger goblet he held into the two goblets that were presented to him. When the golden flames continued to burn, the priestesses bowed to the women they stood in front of and handed the chalice over. As soon as both priestesses had done their part, they returned to where they had been standing and waited for the next rite to be performed. Omanet and Isis each turned to face Daniel who was standing in the middle of them. Speaking simultaneously they both recited the next passage for this rite. “As the Bracers of Binding have been used and the ancient magic revealed that has united us body to body, now we drink of one another’s blood infused into the Blood of Life to unite us soul to soul.” With that, Daniel, Omanet, and Isis drank from their chalices at the same time; none stopping till every drop was gone. As the last dropped disappeared from the chalices, the golden flames that had been in each of the three chalices sprung up around each of them. After several seconds, the golden flames receded into their chests, linking their soles to one another. The head priest then retrieved the goblet from Daniel as the two priestesses retrieved the goblets from each woman. Daniel knew from ancient scrolls he had read, there was one more part to this rite, one he knew would not be pleasant, and would bind them to one another for eternity. The head priestess stepped towards the bottom of the steps, followed by two priests from each temple. In each of their hand they held a crystal band that would complete this rite. With Isis, Daniel, and Omanet each taking one of the crystal bands, they held them above their heads and waited. The head priestess for both temples turned to face the crowd and recited, “So that none may stray in mind to that of another, to keep one another always in mind, now shall their thoughts be joined.” With that, all three lowered the crystal bands onto their heads. For several seconds nothing seemed to happen, then as the crowds watched the crystal bands began to glow with a blue light. From each side of Daniel’s band tendrils of blue energy arced out and into the bands worn by Isis and Omanet. For several brief seconds, Daniel felt like his brain was on fire and all knowledge being drained from him. All of a sudden, he could hear the thoughts of both Omanet/Sha’re and Isis/Sarah. When the blue light subsided, the priestess and priests stepped forward and removed the bands from the three that stood in front of them. The head priestess then turned to face the crowd once more. “It has been done, by ancient rite, these three have been bound in body, soul, and mind. Forever are they linked to one another.”, recited the priestess. Feeling a bit weak in the knees, all three, Daniel, Isis/Sarah, Omanet/Sha’re, turned and ascended the stairs to sit on their thrones. In his head Daniel could hear the thoughts of love that the women at his side had for him. As all of the minor and major “nobles” lined up to pass by and offer their pledges, the priests and priestesses returned to their temples and other duties. As soon as the floor area was cleared, the castle servants descended bringing with them tables and chairs, cutlery, candles, plates, and everything else necessary to adorn the tables. Once all of the tables were completely set up, the “nobles” took their places standing behind seats that had been assigned to them. Standing as one, Daniel, Omanet/Sha’re, and Isis/Sarah, looked over the “nobles” waiting to be fed. With one voice, “May you now share in the bounty of the lands that we rule. May you now partake of the labors of those we protect.” With that, the servants once again descended in mass, laden with food and beverage. While the “nobles” were busy stuffing their faces, the three on the dais slipped out a private door behind them into a separate room that was just for them. End of Chapter Eight |
