Sacrifice & Reward Chapter Two Crying for what seemed like forever, Sam slowly started to gain control of her self as hiccups started overtaking her. A series of beeps from the computer sitting on her desk startled her from the deep thoughts within. Turning on the monitor and bringing the email program to the front, she could not believe what she saw: From: Jackson, Daniel Subject: I am so sorry Sam! Looking at the date and time received, it was just now. “My god, how can this be? I know that he is in the infirmary on life-support. Oh god, he hasn't....” she gasped. With shaking fingers, she double-clicked on the mail message to open it, dreading what it may say. ****************************************************************** Sam, I do not know how this will find you, but if you are receiving this then I am probably not with yall one way or another. No, I am not a ghost sending you this message! I created an automated email that would be sent should I not enter an access code within 180 days of its creation; see...I did learn something from you about computers! Anyhow, I must ask something of you. There is a box in the bottom-right drawer in of my desk, it is a Tok'ra personal safe. In it is a video that will explain things more fully than I can in this email. The code to open the safe is the symbols for where I found life. When you get the box, please gather the team and General Hammond to the conference room. This is something for all of you to see. Your Friend Always, Daniel ****************************************************************** Quickly hitting the print button, Sam waited impatiently for the message to be printed. Grabbing it off of the output bin, Sam ran for Daniel's office with tears streaming down her face anew. Sliding to a stop in front of Daniel's office, Sam made her hand into a fist and lifted it to knock on the door. Grimacing at the automatic action, she unclenched her fist and wrapped her hand around the knob and turned it. Holding back the onslaught of emotions that threatened to overtake her, she slowly stepped into the dark office and flipped the light switch she knew to be just beside the now open door. Trying to keep her mind tuned to only that which she was there to do, Sam walked around Daniel's desk letting her hand slide over his chair as she made her way to the right-hand side. Kneeling down, Sam opened the drawer that was indicated in the email message and delicately lifted the safe from the drawer and set it on top of the desk. Taking a careful look at the box, she noted that it was covered in raised symbols representing many different Stargate glyphs. Further examination of the box did not show anything that looked like a combination lock or any kind of display. Figuring that each of the raised glyphs was actually the buttons, Sam made every effort to touch nothing other than the bottom of the box. Quickly using Daniel's phone, she made a call to MSgt. Harriman and asked him to have SG1 and General Hammond meet her at the conference room. Walking out of the office Sam turned out the light and reached to pull the door closed behind her. Taking a few minutes after the door was firmly shut; Sam let a moment of grief once again pass through her as if she was closing the door to the life of someone she cared a great deal for. Walking to the elevator, Sam waited for the car to reach her so that she could ferry this particular package to those that would be waiting.
