Chapter Four

It did not seem like that much time had passed when the alarms went off in the room signaling unscheduled off-world activation. Right on cue, MSgt. Harriman’s voice was heard across the PA system stating that very fact. Everyone stood up as one and filed out to the control room after General Hammond.

“Who is it son?” General Hammond asked the man in charge of the iris defense system.

“Receiving identification code now sir...it is the Tok’ra IDC sir.” Walter answered back.

Nodding his head to MSgt. Harriman, General Hammond turned and headed towards the stairs for the gate room. By the time he reached the gate room, SG1 was already there waiting for Jacob/Selmak to exit the event horizon. None of them had to wait long before Jacob/Selmak walked out of the shimmering pool of energy and stopped at the top of the ramp. Before anyone could wonder why he did not simply come to the base of the ramp, another Tok’ra emerged from the wormhole just before it shut down.

“Oh for crying out loud, what is she doing

here?” Jack bellowed from where he was standing.

“That is enough Jack!” General Carter responded. “She is here at my request as she has knowledge of both the safe and healing. Don’t you think we should try all that we can to help Daniel out?”

“You are right, I am just … and …” Jack said with a shrug.

“What do you want to do first, dad? Go try and help Daniel or look at that safe?” Sam asked Jacob.

“With all that is going on with Dr. Jackson, I would suggest that we look in on him first. The safe is not going anywhere and nobody is getting into it without the code.” Freya spoke up.

“Alright then, I will call ahead and let Dr. Warner know that y’all are on your way there.” General Hammond stated.

“Dr. Warner? I thought it would be Dr. Frasier handling this case?” Anise asked with a puzzled look.

“Sorry Anise, I forgot to tell you that Janet was killed on the mission that has placed Daniel in his current condition. That was some 6 months ago and we have all been rather busy with other things.” Selmak said in a hushed and sorrowful voice.

“My apologies, I did not know and would not have brought up such bad memories had I.” Anise spoke apologetically.

“Look, we should get going and see what can be done for Danny. He is not getting any better and we are all afraid that he will take another turn for the worse.” Colonel O’Neill said in a rush.

“Of course, you are correct Colonel.” Freya said with a bow.

With a quick pace to their steps, the group made their way out of the gate room with the heavy thoughts on each of their minds.

~ ”Do you think that Dr. Jackson is so bad off that even Colonel O’Neill is not putting up more that a token resistance to our being here?” Freya asked Anise. ~

~ ”It would appear so my love. I had thought that Jacob was exaggerating Dr. Jackson’s condition, but I believe I was in error on that judgment.” Anise replied. ~

~ ”I so hope that we can help our Daniel, I would so much like to try and see if he feels for us what we feel for him.” Freya said with a mournful voice. ~

~ ”Do not fret young one. We will do all that we can to help him. If we are unable, there are still those within the Tok’ra that would be willing to come here that have much greater healing abilities than ours. There is always the possibility of blending him with a symbiote.” Anise said trying to dispel Freya’s worry. “I too want very much to see what may come of how we feel for our Daniel.” ~

~ ”Do you think this was the wisest course of action to take bringing Anise and Freya along Sel?” Jacob asked his partner. ~

~ ”I know that you are concerned about how their feelings for Dr. Jackson may get in the way. I assure you, Anise will not allow anything to tamper with our efforts dear one.” Selmak replied. “Short of bringing a healer with us, she was the most plausible choice as she is strong with a healing device.” ~

~ ”It is not just that Sel, but what happens when we revive Daniel and he sees Anise/Freya there? I am worried that he may become upset being as to him, he only lost Janet yesterday. It is not much of a secret of how Anise and Freya feel about him to everyone around her and Daniel is astute enough to see that clearer than we.” Jacob broached. ~

~ ”It is too late to worry about that now Jacob, we are here at the infirmary.” Selmak spoke. ~
