Chapter Five

Stepping through the doors of the infirmary the group came across Dr. Warner as he just came out of Daniel’s private room. It did not go unnoticed by the members of SG1 where he had just come from. Not seeing any signs of distress on his face, they immediately relaxed, pulling their minds back from the brink of disaster.

Nodding his head in the direction of Daniel’s current residence, it was Jack that spoke first. “Anything the matter with our boy, doc?”

“Oh, everything is fine. What I mean to say is that there is no change. He is the same now as he was earlier.” Dr. Warner replied while looking eyeing the two Tok’ra with suspicion.

Seeing the look on Dr. Warner’s face, Sam quickly took up introductions. “Dr. Warner, this is my father, General Carter and his symbiote, Selmak.” Sam said motioning with her hands. “With them is Anise and her host, Freya. They are both her to see if the healing devices can help Daniel.”

Nodding his head in understanding, Dr. Warner shrugged. “I do not know if the devices will help or not to be honest. He is not injured as much as it seems like his body just lost all of its energy and is having trouble generating more. To be perfectly honest, I am confounded by this event as I have never heard of a case where there was no sign of any physical injury or ailment to be causing this.”

“Maybe that is where the healing devices can be of help.” Selmak spoke up. “The devices use energy to accelerate healing of damaged tissue or eradicate infections. Maybe he will be able to absorb some of this energy as we feed it to him and this will replace what he has lost.”

“It is as good a theory as anything I have tried. Short of a sarcophagus, I do not think that anything can provide enough energy to offset what his own body has lost.” Dr. Warner said shaking his head.

“No sarcophagus for Daniel.” Jack stated vehemently. “After the time he was addicted to it, he has told everyone that needed to know that he would never again use one if he had any say in the matter.”

“Sorry to point things out, Colonel, but he is not able to say anything at the moment and I would consider that it may become necessary to keep from losing him.” Dr. Warner stated with authority. “I understand his feelings on the matter, but this would not be repeated exposure…just one treatment.”

“With his exposure to it in the past, it would not take but one or maybe two treatments within the confines of a sarcophagus to reactivate his addiction.” Anise said with force. “It does not matter at any rate as the Tok’ra do not have a working sarcophagus in our possession at this time.”

“Even trying to get a working sarcophagus would prove to be too risky, even DanielJackson would decline for this to be done.” Teal’c stated. “They are too closely guarded by the Goa’uld these days.”

“If nobody objects, Anise and I need to get to work and see what we can accomplish.” Jacob spoke.

“Of course, he is in the private room just through the doors to your right.” Dr. Warner stated as he turned and headed for his office.
