Chapter Seven

Once in the solitude of their assigned room, Anise released control of their shared body and Freya sank to the floor crying with her head resting on the bed.

~ “I can not lose him before he knows how we feel Anise.” Freya cried to her life-partner. “I have only just realized recently the depth of which I feel for my Daniel, to lose him before I can find out how he feels is too much for me to bear.” ~

~ “If it comes to that, we will both bear the burden of this,” Anise replied in a soothing tone, “Are feelings for Daniel are great and deep, you must have faith that he will pull through and we will have our time with him. Has he not died many times and returned, his will can not be stopped by the Gould…no matter what they try.” ~

~ “I pray you are right, Anise, because I do not know how his passing would affect me now that I have acknowledged what I do feel.” Freya Lamented. ~

Any further conversation was halted as a hard knock on the door echoed into the Tok’ra’s shared ears. Quickly taking control, it was Anise that answered.

“Come in, the door is not locked.” Anise stated to the unwelcome interruption.

To Anise and Freya’s surprise, it was Major Carter standing in the doorway when the door opened. A quick look showed that her eyes were bloodshot, her face and cheeks puffy, and her posture was that of being utterly worn out. In short, Anise and Freya knew that she had most likely been crying since they saw her last.

“I hope that I am not bothering the two of you,” Sam ventured, “but there are some things I think we should talk about … all three of us.”

Motioning for Sam to sit on the bed, Anise pulled the chair from the desk and sad down herself.

“I presume you are here about Dan… Dr. Jackson.” Anise stated in a cautious voice.

“Look Anise and Freya, this is a bit awkward for me to talk to you both about, but here it goes.” Carter said in a rushed breath. “It is about you, Anise, Daniel, and me…”

Raising her hand to stall the Major’s words, it was Freya that addressed Sam.

“If you are talking about Anise’s love for him, then you should also know that I too am in love with Daniel. I had hoped to tell him the next time we saw him, but we did not know about his present condition. I have known for a while, I just could not get the courage to tell him.”

Seeing the shocked expression on Sam’s face, Freya held back from what she was about to say. It took Sam a few minutes to recover from what she has just heard, but she decided that it was time to also tell the truth of her heart.

“I am in love with Daniel as well; I have been since I first met him on Abydos.” Major Carter stated. “What do we do now? We can not all three be with Daniel as we want to be.”

“Why not? Why can we not all enjoy Daniel’s love?” Anise asked. “The Tok’ra have no such issues with sharing someone that has many that desire them. Freya and I both expected that you had these feelings for Dr. Jackson, Daniel. We are both pleased that you now admit to them.”

“Humans are not ones to share a single person in a loving relationship, at least not normally.” Carter responded on automatic.

“We understand this, but this issue is not one that is normal don’t you agree, Samantha.” Freya said with a bit of force. “You better than any one of the other Tauri know the ways of the Tok’ra. You yourself have loved a member of our race. Would you be willing to try, or would you force Daniel to choose?”

Before Sam could respond, the facility klaxons started sounding off. “Unscheduled off-world activation.” echoed through the halls of the SGC. Looking quickly at Anise/Freya, Sam scrambled to her feet and headed for the elevator with the Tok’ra woman fast on her heels. Neither one talked or looked at the other on the ride down.

~ “Is it right of us to ask this of Major Carter?” Freya asked Anise. “She has known him much longer than we have, and such a long time of not accepting the truth of her feelings must have been a heavy burden on her.” ~

~ “I agree that this must have been a lot of turmoil for her, but should we forbid ourselves as she did should our Daniel regain his health?” Freya responded. “Perhaps we should wait and see what Samantha decided as she seems to be thinking about this as well.” ~

Keeping her eyes downcast, Sam kept running the conversation with Freya and Anise through her head and comparing it to her own feelings.

* Could she share Daniel? Yes, she could. Surprisingly, she did not feel anything disquieting about the idea. She had seen how much Daniel cares for others, didn’t he deserve the same! The question was, how would Daniel respond to the idea of her, Freya, and Anise all being with him in a loving relationship? *

Sam’s internal debate was interrupted as the elevator came to a stop on the gate level.
