Chapter Twelve

After reaching the sanctity of his room, Teal’c set about preparing his surroundings for his meditation practices. After getting the candles, pillows, and other items set in the proper places, he lit the candles and sat down in the lotus position. Placing the holo-cube across the circle from him, he activated it and returned to his meditative position. Daniel Jackson’s image appeared wearing his Abadonian robes, sitting in a meditative position as well.

“Hi Teal’c. I hope that this finds you well.” the image began. “I knew you would be attuned to how I would want to speak with you and as always, I greatly appreciate the thoughtfulness you give into things. I want to start off by saying that I do not hold you in any way responsible for the events that happened with Sha’re. You were acting as an honor-bound warrior and carrying out the orders given to you.”

“Throughout the time I have known you, you have always acted with the utmost honor and respect towards others. You are/were a great friend, trusted ally, and honorable warrior. Nothing greater can be asked from anyone. I am proud to call you “brother”.”

“You once told me that my passing would be a great loss to the fight against our enemies. I thank you for those words, for they helped to keep my soul intact during the darker moments of my life. I know that without you, our battle would have ended long ago.”

With the final words having been spoken, the image of Daniel Jackson faded from view. The once crystalline cube changed from clear to a Sunset-Orange. Emblazoned on each of the cube’s facets were the Ancient symbols for “Friend”, “Brother”, “Honor”, and “Warrior”.

His face a mixture of anguish and anger, Teal’c clasped his right-arm across his chest and bowed in the direction of the holo-cube.

“I will always honor your memory and will strive to live the example that you set for all to follow.” Teal’c intoned.
