Chapter Fourteen

As Jacob and Selmak sat in their room, they both silently stared at the holo-cube in front of them. Finally, no longer able to stand it anymore, Jacob’s patience ran out and activated the cube. Dropping the cube, Jacob stepped back in shock from what he saw.

Standing not but a few feet from him, Daniel was dressed as a Tok’ra with his eyes glowing.

“Hello Jacob and Selmak.” the image said with a bow. “My being dressed in this clothing has probably shocked both of you a bit. The reason I am dressed as such is that it represents a decision I have come to. Not long ago, I reached the conclusion in my mind that I would become blended and ask to be the diplomatic envoy between our two peoples. Alas, the opportunity never came if this is how I am now speaking with the two of you.”

“Holy Hannah!” Jacob Carter exclaimed.

“I guess that I am either dead or so severely injured I am probably on life-support. In either case, I will not make a decent host now, nor would I ask to be blended and subject a symbiote to an impossible task. Being this the case, there are a few things that I would like to say to the two of you.”

“First, I have always respected the Tok’ra for their efforts in this long battle with the Gould. I know that it can not be easy to be constantly compared to those that you are physically similar to, yet do not share the same ideologies.”

“Second, I have the most respect for the both of you, Jacob and Selmak. For the two of you are in one of the most unenviable positions there is; envoy between the Tauri and the Tok’ra, two peoples that are so similar and yet so not.” the image of Daniel said as he shook his head and shrugged his shoulders at the same time. “I hope that the other provisions I have made via the Asgard, will help to bring our peoples together.”

“Lastly, but by no means the least, as the father to my friend and colleague, Sam; I wanted you to know that I have been in love with your daughter since after I came to grips with the loss of Sha’re. I am not talking about loving her as just a friend, but as someone that I could have found myself in a committed relationship with. But, I have kept my feelings to myself and never pursued anything with her because she and Jack love one another.”

“I have one request to make of you Jacob, let them try for a relationship and do what you can to make it possible. Flex the Tok’ra muscle if you must to get them this chance at love and happiness.” Daniel said pleading.

As Daniel’s image faded from sight, the crystalline cube changed color into half Air Force Blue and half Tok’ra Brown. The Ancient symbols for “Friend”, “Ally”, “Tauri”, and “Tok’ra” appeared in gold across the facets.

~ “Well, I don’t know what to say to that.” Jacob mused. ~

~ “You and I both.” Selmak said in a stunned voice. ~

~ “You know, he always tried to do what was the most right by everyone…except himself.” Selmak thought to Jacob. ~

~ “Not just that, but he looked for the good in all, he even tried to look for the good in the Gould in the beginning.” Jacob replied. ~

~ “It is a shame that there will not be the chance for him to blend, he would have been one hell of a Tok’ra.” Selmak stated with a remorseful voice. “He would have been a truly spectacular host, not just to the eyes, but in deeds as well.” ~

~ “Of that I have no doubt Selmak. He would have been a bigger pain in the ass to the Council than even we have been.” Jacob said laughing. ~
