Chapter Twenty

Closing her eyes in concentration, Leya placed her crossed her wrists above Daniel’s heart. After several long seconds, she again opened her eyes and looked at those gathered in the room.

“He is far from safe. His life energies are very much depleted and only what was just transferred to him brought him back. These energies were not enough to restore him, nor will they sustain him for long.” Leya stated with sympathy. “Do you wish to have Daniel back amongst you?”

“Yes, oh yes!” Freya/Anise and Sam practically pleaded in a yell. “We want him back.”

Looking from face to face, Leya received nods all around as the group drew closer to the bed. Nodding for Nafrayu to step to the other side of the bed, Leya motioned everyone to gather closer.

“In order to bring Daniel back, I will need to use some of each of your energies to replenish what he has lost.” Leya began. “It will not take much from any one of you, just a little. You will probably need to rest afterwards I warn you.”

“You have it!” Jack stated with conviction. “Each of us here would give their life for him, as he has for us many times.”

Stepping into the room and up to the bed, General Hammond joined the group, as did Thor.

“Please, hold hands and think only of Daniel.” Leya started. “Picture in your minds Daniel’s health as a vessel that you are trying to fill.”

After she said this, Leya and Nafrayu added their hands to the circle of people and closed their eyes in concentration. To those watching, a wind seemed to come out of nowhere and only seemed to blow in circles around the group holding hands.

As everyone witnessed, the wind took on color; first it was an opaque, then light blue, then the green of nature. As if they actually existed, it could be sworn that trees and flowers and leaves could be seen standing still in the center of swirling vortex, as if a glad had appeared from out of the winds. In the center of the glad, Daniel was seen lying on a bed of soft grass.

Almost as quickly as it had begun, the winds died away leaving the group looking as if nothing had happened in the room. Almost as one, each person let go of each other’s hands and swayed on their feet. Taking a moment to nod at each of them, Leya again closed her eyes and placed her crossed wrists above Daniel’s heart.

After a few seconds, Leya once again opened her eyes and smiled brightly at everyone. “You all have done well.” Leya stated with a parental smile. “He is at full energy, far better than I had hoped.”

“You mean he will be okay.” Sam asked a little breathlessly.

“Yes, Daniel will be fine. Thanks to each of you.” Leya responded.

It was then that everyone saw that Thor had joined the circle. “Thor?” Jack asked.

“I thought it only fitting that I should also assist in saving Dr. Jackson, as he has done no less for my people.” Thor replied.

Nobody could mistake the smile that seemed to grace Thor’s usually emotionless features.

“Thank you, Leya.” General Hammond began to say. “You have no idea how much this means to each of us.”

“You are most welcome, General Hammond.” Leya said smiling. “Daniel has proven himself to the Nox and it would not do to have him leave this plane of existence again just yet.”

“I think it best if you all take some time to rest. It will be a while yet before Daniel awakens, and I am sure that you will all want to be present to greet him when he does.” Leya stated with a grin.

“If it is permissible, Nafrayu and I would like to stay until Daniel does awaken?” Leya requested.

“Also, the devices that are connected to Daniel can be safely removed now. They will not be needed to help him.” Leya of the Nox said looking at Dr. Warner.

“Of course.” General Hammond replied. “You and Nafrayu are most welcome, I will have quarters made available to you immediately.”

Picking up the phone, General Hammond called MSgt. Harriman to have a room made ready for the Nox, as well as to have the news spread that Dr. Jackson was out of the woods.

“I too will return when Dr. Jackson is once again awake.” Thor stated just as he bowed then beamed back to his ship.
