Sacrifice & Reward Chapter Twenty-Two As Sam, Freya, and Anise slumbered they were unaware of the 3-prong connection they had established with Daniel; emotionally, physically, and mentally they were all four meshing together in the world of Daniel’s mind. It was Freya that was first to awaken in a strange place, a place that looked like a empty meadow save for a few trees and one other thing a, white stump in the middle of the meadow to the south of her position. ~ “Anise, where are we?” Freya asked of her life-mate. ~ When she did not get a response, Freya tested what she had learned to indicate that her symbiote was asleep…but there was no sign, there was actually no sign Anise even existed. Panicking, Freya once again searched within her own body for signs of her life-mate, but there was nothing. Taking in her surroundings, Freya was frightened even more when a female dressed in white robes came running towards her from the east. “Freya?” Anise called out. “Anise?” Freya replied wearily. She did not recognize the woman approaching her, but thought she recognized the voice. “It is you Freya, but how? How am I seeing you from the outside when I am not looking into a mirror?” Anise questioned. Wrapping Anise up in a tight hug, Freya only held tight for several minutes before she tried to respond. “I tried to talk to you, but you would not answer. I tried to check if you were sleeping still, but could not feel your presence. I thought that someone had come along and removed you from me, or that you had left me.” Freya cried in a rush of tears. “Shush, young one.” Anise soothed. “I would not leave you voluntarily, and there is no way to remove me that would not kill us both should someone attempt to pull me out.” “You are right, I should have thought about that…but everything looked so strange here and I was scared.” Freya sniffled. “I understand how you were feeling, I too started to panic when I first awakened, but things here did not look natural so I figured everything was not as it seemed.” Anise said as she stroked Freya’s hair. “Where are we?” Freya asked Anise. “I do not know, but from the way everything looks…I would hazard to guess that we are on one of the “other” planes.” Anise answered as she looked around over Freya’s shoulder. “Uh hum.” Came from a person behind both Freya and Anise. Spinning around, Anise and Freya were somewhat startled to find Samantha Carter standing there also dressed in a white robe. “Freya, is that you?” Sam asked. “Yes, and Anise too.” Freya said smiling. “Anise!” Sam nearly shouted as she looked at the woman standing next to Freya. “But how is that possible, she is a symbiote inside of you.” “I assure you Major Carter, it is I.” Anise stated a little perturbed. “I am unsure as to how this is, but I am standing her in a body of my own outside of Freya.” “This is so strange. I never thought that is how you would look.” Sam said as she took in Anise’s appearance. The woman that was Anise was bronze skinned, had waist-length, raven-black hair, grey eyes, a few freckles on her cheeks, full, pouting lips, a medium c-cup bust, and narrow hips. Her height stopped just about Sam’s shoulders and she was toned looking. “Sorry, that sounded rude of me.” Sam said blushing. “No offense. I never pictured myself either. Apparently someone else has viewed me this way though.” Anise responded as she gave herself a look-over. “I cannot say that I am displeased either.” Sam and Freya both giggled a little at the way Anise was looking about her self. Doing a semi-spin as she tried to take a look at the backside of her self. “I wonder where we are and who brought us here?” Sam asked after getting over the shock of seeing Anise standing beside Freya. “I do not know.” Freya started. “All that I do know is I woke up here and found myself to be alone, without Anise. I panicked and then she showed up.” “That is about the extent of what I know as well.” Anise replied. “I too found myself alone when I awoke. I spotted Freya when I came up over the incline just east of us. We had just started talking when you showed up.” “Yeah, same here.” Sam said. “I was just a bit to the west of here when I woke up. I started walking trying to spot any tracks or signs of anyone; that is when I crested an incline and spotted the two of you.” “Perhaps I can explain where you are.” a third female voice said coming up from the south of the three of them. As the three ladies turned around, it was Sam that recognized the person approaching. “Oma!” Sam exclaimed. “What are you doing here?” “Hello to you too Samantha.” Oma replied with a smile. “I came to see what was going on with Daniel and was surprised to see he has visitors.” “Daniel, what do you mean?” Freya asked. “We have not seen him here.” Laughing a light laugh, Oma shook her head a little at the look of puzzlement on the other three’s faces. “You are inside Daniel, his mind.” Oma stated as if it was nothing. “I came only to see if he had decided to awaken yet and found that he had not, but that you three had come in.” “The last thing I remember,” Sam began as she thought, “was holding Daniel’s hand in the infirmary as he lay on the bed. We had just recently all donated energy to help keep him from dieing on us again.” “That’s right. Anise and I were holding his other hand, then we were here.” Freya gasped. “Then it must be the help of “others” that you are here. Perhaps it is for you three to bring Daniel home again.” Oma said with little surprise. “He may have not wanted help from anyone, but I doubt that includes the three that hold a place in his heart.” “So, we where sent here?” Sam asked. “More like you were nudged as Daniel would say.” Oma replied. “The three of you already had bonds to Daniel that would have allowed a connection to here if you new how to do so. Someone, or some ones, just gave you a bit of a tweak to make it happen.” “You are kidding, right?” Anise asked. “I mean, scientifically this is not possible, entering another’s mind in this fashion.” “Ah, but there are places and beings in the universe where you science does not work. This is one such place.” Oma stated unperturbed. “So, what do we do now that we are here?” Sam asked the ascended being. “You seek out Daniel of course.” Oma replied as if that was the only thing that mattered. “You find the one that you all love and bring him home. You will find him to the south, where the woods and sky are dark. That is where he awaits you, though he is not aware of that fact.” “You mean Daniel does not know that we are here in his mind?” Freya said stunned. “No. Daniel is unaware because he has closed himself off from the light and everything else. He dwells within the darkness of his self-imposed guilt.” Oma said with a hint of bitterness. “It is up to the three of you to get him to release the burden he holds to himself, and to get him to open up to those that await him.” “How are we to help him with this?” Anise asked. “That is for you to figure out. If it was not within the ability of the three of you, the “others” that established the connection would not have allowed it.” Oma said. “What if we fail?” Sam croaked out. “Then all that has done will not matter. Daniel will stay locked in his own mind.” Oma replied with finality as she vanished. All three women stood looking at the spot where Oma DeSala had been only a second ago. It was then that they all felt the bite of a chill wind blow at them from the south. Looking in the direction that Oma said they must go, what they saw dismayed them. Off to the south there were dark clouds building up, like a tempest was marshalling itself for one hell of a blow. Even the woods that stood below the raging storm appeared to be as black as night, an unnatural darkness. Even though they could feel the coldness of the outer fringes of the burgeoning storm, they instinctively knew that it would be much worse by the time they reached it. Nodding to one another in determination, all three ladies linked hands and started the long walk into the fury of the storm that awaited them. The only thought any of the three had was that they must find and free Daniel. End Chapter Twenty-Two of This story along with all original characters and situations were created
