Chapter Twenty-Six

Once everyone’s eyes had adjusted to the bright sunlight, Daniel stepped up to the women that were standing just ahead of him. As he approached, he easily identified Sam and Freya, but was unsure as to the identity of the third woman. He had a vague feeling that he recognized her, but he could not place her face or voice.

“Uhm, not to be rude, I mean I recognize Sam and Freya, but…who are you?” Daniel asked the black haired woman standing between Sam and Freya.

Trying to hide the hurt that the lack of recognition caused, Anise looked at Daniel before she chose her words with care.

“I am not surprised you do not recognize me, Sam did …” Anise began.

“Anise!” Daniel exclaimed. “I recognize the voice, but it is not that dual tone.”

Smiling, Anise beamed at Daniel. “Somehow, I ended up in my own body in here.” She said as she used her hands to motion around them. I am not sure who’s image I am cast in though.”

Recognition flooded into the fore of Daniel’s mind from the deep recesses. The force of the recollection was so profound; it caused Daniel to sway on his feet.

“Daniel.” Anise said as she jumped to steady him.

“I am alright. I just had a sudden burst of information or something slammed my mind.” Daniel whispered trying to regain his balance.

“I know where the image came from, it came from you Anise.” Daniel pronounced as if in a bit of a daze. “When I was ascended, I stopped in to check on you and Freya one day. You had decided that you preferred to be female in gender and that is the image that was within you. I saw it when I looked at you.”

Looking to see if Sam was upset by this statement, Daniel was relieved to see that she was smiling.

“Visit a lot of people did you?” Sam said with a chuckle.

“Uh yeah…it was boring up there.” Daniel said waving his hand in the direction of the sky.

“When I chose my preference…” Anise said perplexed, “but that was so many years ago. I had only thought it to my self…not even Freya knew.”

“But the universe did.” Daniel smirked. “It is one of those cosmic things. It seems that Gould and Tok’ra are born without a gender, but have the ability to choose. Most never do because they switch host bodies and do not really settle on a preferred gender type or even race. When a symbiote does make a choice, something in your genetics is triggered and creates an image that psychic entities see.”

“So, you are saying that Anise looks like that to those who read minds?” Freya said bewildered.

“Actually, anyone that can do anything paranormal with their minds can see this image.” Daniel explained. “Since you are all being projected into my mind, you are a separate being in here…with your chosen look.”

“Wow.” Sam said with amazement. “How do you know all of this Daniel?”

“I am not sure. That is some of the information that rushed forward when I recognized Anise.” Daniel replied.

“I do know that this is how we, you, me, and Freya, will always see Anise when we look at her because of the bond that is allowing you all to be in here.” Daniel said touching his temple.

“I like that idea.” Anise said with a wide smile. “Not that I do not like being seen as Freya, but to be seen as my self as well…”

“I understand Anise.” Freya said smirking.

Freya and Anise hugged one another to show that there was no misunderstanding and that they cared for one another. Daniel started fidgeting with his tattered robes and shuffling uncomfortably on his feet.

“Daniel?” Sam began speaking. “What is the matter, you seem to be worried about something all of a sudden.”

Freya and Anise turned and looked at Daniel when Sam voiced this and saw that his cheeks were growing flushed under everyone’s scrutiny.

“If I have been in a coma for the past six months, then you all have accessed my safe per the automated email?” Daniel asked with embarrassment.

“Uh yes, we just did that today, yesterday…time is a little confused.” Sam stated. “We would not have gotten into it at all if Nick had not shown up and told us the correct code.”

“You flat-lined on us so many times Daniel.” Sam said crying.

“Nick?” Daniel nearly shouted. “My grandfather came to the SGC?”

“Yes, he showed up after we had called the Tok’ra to try and heal you, but they couldn’t.” Sam continued as she wept.

Daniel took several hesitant steps to come up in front of same and brought her into his arms. Sam laid her head on his shoulder as she continued to pour out tears and information.

“It is such a chaotic mess.” Sam sniffed. “After Nick arrived and we opened the box, we each received your messages, then Thor showed up when I activated the beacon device, then the Asgard High Council. After the argument about them going to create human clones of you for us and the Tok’ra…which Jack and Freya were firmly against…we all went to our private quarters to view the messages.”

“Oh boy.” Daniel sighed as he tried to pull away from Sam.

Sam felt Daniel trying to detach himself from her, but she held tight to keep him from retreating…especially now that she was holding him in her arms.

Daniel did not know what to do, Sam was holding him and not letting go; then he felt two more pairs of arms engulf him.

“It is alright Daniel.” Freya said in his ear.

“It really is okay, you know the Tok’ra have no problems with sharing a loved one.” Anise said with an emotional voice.

“We kinda talked about it, Anise, Freya, and my self, before we even watched your messages to each of us.” Sam said in a semi-husky voice. “We each confessed how we feel for you…and then I figured out that I was not jealous about the idea of sharing your love with them.”

“This is kind of strange,” Daniel started saying, “I love all three of you, but you are in love with Jack, Sam.”

Pulling back a little to look in Daniel’s eyes, Sam shook her head as she spoke. “No Daniel, Jack and I were never in love…maybe infatuated with one another at first…but it was a game we played to keep ourselves from reaching out to anyone else and possibly getting hurt.”

“Really?” Daniel said in astonishment. “All of these years you two were using that as a shield?”

Smiling, Sam nodded her head in agreement. “If I had known that you had feelings for me like I have had for you…”

Sam’s statement was cut off as Anise reached around Daniel and pulled Sam’s face forward to Daniel’s. The kiss was instant, and hot. The two stayed locked in that embrace for several minutes before hey broke apart. Daniel had barely enough time to get a breath of air when Freya pulled him to her and began kissing him. When Freya had finished her kiss, Anise did the same thing…though she had to pull Daniel down as she rose up on her tip toes.

When all kisses had been shared, the group of entwined people started laughing.

“Well, that was…uh…different.” Daniel said stunned.

“It was apparently enjoyable.” Anise said with a knowing smile as she reached down and cupped the tented area of Daniel’s robes. The blush rose quickly in everyone’s faces at the idea and sight.

In the infirmary, Teal’c was watching the three that were asleep when he noticed that they were beginning to turn a bit pink in color in their cheeks, as well as their breathing became deeper.

“Perhaps we should leave for now since there is nothing more going on.” Teal’c suggested to the gathered group.

“Why would you say that, T?” Jack asked as he turned to look at the sleeping trio. The words died in his throat when he saw the tenting effect of Daniel’s sheets.

“Um, yeah, time to go.” Jack announced a little embarrassed.

“Somebody mind telling me why we are leaving?” Jacob began.

~ “If you had been paying attention my love, you would have seen that there is something different going on with Freya, Anise, Sam, and Daniel.” Selmak snickered. ~

~ “What do you mean?” Jacob asked in exasperation as turned to look at the sleeping beauties. He too quickly turned red. “Oh!” ~
