Sacrifice & Reward Chapter Twenty-Seven Jumping back a little, Daniel nearly knocked Freya to the ground because she was to the back and side of him. “Uh, I don’t think starting this here is a good idea.” Daniel stated in shock. “If I remember correctly, everything that happens to or with our bodies here also happens on the outside.” “You mean that if you take wounds here, they show up on your real body?” Sam gasped. “Yeah.” Daniel replied. This revelation stirred the emotions of the three ladies as they looked over the wounds scattered across Daniel’s body. “How do we get out of here?” Freya asked with concern as she looked at her bandaged palms. “Normally I just wake up.” Daniel stated. “But you have to be able to leave before I do that...” “But we do not know how we got here. Oma told us that the “others” had something to do with it.” Anise said with dismay. “Then they will have to let you out first.” Daniel replied a little vexed. “Oma!” he shouted. “No need to shout, Daniel.” Oma said as she appeared from thin air. “I was merely giving you all some private time.” “Thank you for that.” Daniel said contritely. “Didn’t I ask for y’all not to interfere anymore though?” “The “others” did not see it as interfering to correct an oversight on their part.” Oma stated calmly. “It was their fault that you almost perished when they withdrew the power from you. They simply nudged the bond that existed between the four of you to get them here to pull you out of your guilt that kept you trapped after your body was mended.” “I see. So they interfered by using a loophole?” Daniel smirked. “It would seem that some of your “lessons” have taken root in their minds.” Oma said smiling. “As great as this all is, how do we get out of here?” Sam said a little put out. “Simple.” Oma said as she touched a finger to each of the three women in turn. Within seconds of the touch, the women disappeared from within Daniel’s mind leaving him alone with Oma. “So, what now?” Daniel asked his ascended guide. “Now you go back to your plane of existence.” Oma stated. “It is good that you did not stay here and allow your body to die. Many would have missed you, there and on other planes.” “What about my being used as a Champion?” Daniel inquired. “Am I going to wake back up with that awful power again?” “No, the “others” remove the power as you asked.” Oma commented. “You have always been a Champion, just without powers to assist with your efforts. If you should ever change your mind about that, the “others” said that they will give you the gift again…but at a pace your body can handle.” “Thank you, and them.” Daniel spoke. “I do not want that for now, maybe one day it will be necessary. For now, I will continue to do as I have without the power.” “Very well.” Oma said with pride. “You have always done what is right, even if it was not easy.” Reaching out, Oma cupped Daniel’s face in one hand as he closed his eyes. Waking up in the infirmary, Sam and Freya both moaned from the stiffness in their backs. “Remind me to lie down in a bed next time I do this.” Sam smarted as she stretched. “No kidding!” Freya wise-cracked. “Ouch!” she moaned. ~ “I will take care of that momentarily my love.” Anise told her host. “I need to heal our hands first.” ~ ~ “Thank you Anise. I think we are going to need our hands before long.” Freya sent to her symbiote, along with an image of what they would be using their hands for. ~ Looking over at Daniel, all three women expected to find him waking up, but he still seemed to be sleeping. Pulling the sheet back from his abdomen area, Sam gingerly pulled the edge of one of the blood soaked bandages up. She gasped out loud at what she saw. “How bad is it?” Freya asked jerking her head up to look. “He is completely healed.” Sam said in astonishment as she removed the remainder of the bandage. Looking at the spot indicated by Samantha, Freya smiled and laughed with happiness. Quickly, Sam helped Freya get the bindings off of her and Daniel’s hands so that she could touch the area that had been severely gashed only a short time before. The skin was perfect and smooth. A sudden intake of breath and squirming under their hands brought their eyes up to look at Daniel’s face and to stare into squinted blue eyes. “That tickles.” Daniel rasped out through his parched throat. Both women flung themselves around his neck, making small kissing pecks on his neck and smiling. So caught up in the moment, nobody took notice of the nurse that had just stepped in the door and immediately turned and left again.
