Chapter Twenty-Eight

The ringing phone brought Jack out of the sleep he had dozed off into while reading over a report. Reaching over, he picked it up off he cradle while he wiped his face with is other hand.

“Colonel O’Neill.” Jack spoke into the phone. “They have, they are, I will be right there.” Jack said dropping the receiver down on the base as he rushed out the door.

Skipping the elevator and taking the stairs two at a time, Jack made it to the infirmary in half the time I would have taken otherwise. Still running as he blasted through the infirmary to the private room with Daniel in it, Jack almost ran over a poor nurse that was carrying a tray full of needles. Jack slid to a halt when he got in the doorway. Before him was Sam and Freya both kissing Daniel on the neck while he still lay on the bed.

“Well what do you know? Danyboy has been dead and back after sleeping for six months and he is greeted that way!” Jack said with a scowl on his face. “Maybe I should get put into a coma for a bit.”

“Hello Jack.” Daniel called from the bed while Sam and Freya stood up blushing.

“You keep this up young man, and they are going to stop calling you “Rock Doc” and starting calling you “Doctor Love”.” Jack broke out chuckling.

With a sheepish look on their faces, Freya, Sam, and Daniel stuck their tongues out and blew raspberries.

Within moments after Jack’s arrival, Teal’c, Jacob Carter/Selmk, Leya, Nafrayu, and General Hammond walked into the room. Their entrance was followed in a fraction of a second with two Asgard beaming in.

“Well son, how are you feeling?” General Hammond asked. “You gave all of us quite a scare.”

“Sorry sir.” Daniel said looking contrite just before he caught a glare from Sam. “It was not my original intention.”

“That is alright son, buy I am thinking about making it an order for you to not get injured anymore.” George joked.

“Yes sir.” Daniel replied. “That is one order I would fully wish I could comply with…but you know how things go…”

“That I do son.” General Hammond replied smiling.

“Jacob and I have gotten more rest, if you would care for us to heal your wounds.” Selmak hazard the offer.

“That will not be necessary.” Freya stated. “He is already fully healed.” She said pointing to where one of the largest bandages had been.

Everyone stared in amazement at the area Sam revealed by pulling the sheet down again. There was not even the slightest pink spot that would have indicated a scar.

“That is amazing? Did you do that?” Jacob asked looking at Daniel.

“No, I guess Oma did it before I awoke.” Daniel replied with a shrug.

“Sweet!” Jack responded.

“Hi, Leya, and you too Nafrayu.” Daniel said puzzled. “What are you both doing here?”

“We were called upon to transfer energy into you to bring you back from the edge of death.” Leya said with a smile.

“We stayed around to see how you were once you awoke.” Nafraya said grinning up at Daniel.

“Thank you, both of you for all that you have done.” Daniel said bowing his head.

“No need to thank us Daniel.” Leya remarked. “It is good that we have not lost you to one of the other planes.”

Smiling, Daniel looked around the room when he spotted Thor and another Asgard just past Sam’s shoulder.

“Thor. How are you?” Daniel asked the Asgard Supreme Commander.

“I am doing well Dr. Jackson.” Thor replied. “It is good to see you so well. This is Loki’s brother, Helbindi, he is our lead scientist on our home world.”

“Greetings Dr. Jackson.” Helbindi said bowing. “It is good that you are well again.”

“Thank you Helbindi. It is good to be well again.” Daniel said bowing his head. “Not to be rude, but what do we owe the honor of your presence.”

“Oh, I was sent to help integrate your downloaded knowledge on ancient cultures and integrate it into an AI system for use by the Tauri and Tok’ra.” Helbindi replied. “Now that you are better, it will not be needed?”

“Thank you for your help, Helbindi, I think it is a good idea to go forward with doing this.” Daniel replied looking at everyone in the room. “I mean, the reason behind the idea has not changed…even if the circumstances have.”

“Very well.” Thor said with a bow as he and Helbindi transported back to their ships.

Dr. Warner chose that moment to enter the room and immediately started shooing everyone out. “Not to be mean everyone, but I need to look over our patient and do the normal stuff. He has nearly died several times and with all of the other strange stuff that has happened the last few days…”

“No problem Doc.” Jack replied. “See you in a few Dannybody…can I get you anything?”

“Coffee?” Daniel asked with pleading eyes looking at Dr. Warner.

“If his tests come back normal, I do not see a problem with that.” Dr. Warner replied looking from Daniel to Jack.

“Right, coffee...should’ve known.” Jack said with a smile as he left the room.

Catching up with Teal’c in the hallway, “So, you wanna go with me to Starbucks and get Dannyboy some coffee?” Jack asked.

“Would not the coffee in the commissary suffice?” Teal’c asked.

“Yeah, but I thought he could do with something a little better.” Jack said shrugging.

“Indeed.” Teal’c said with a nod.

So off to Starbucks Jack and Teal’c went to get their resident Archeologist and friend some coffee.

While the nurses were disconnecting the IVs from Daniel’s arms, Dr. Warner took Freya’s hands in his and turned them palm up.

“I see that Anise has already healed you hands.” Dr. Warner said to Freya.

“Yes, she started on that as soon as we woke up…but, thank you.” Freya said with a smile.

“You are most welcome.” Warner replied. “How about you Major.” He said shifting his gaze over to Sam while letting Freya’s hand drop.

“I am fine; I did not take any injury this time.” Sam remarked all the while watching the nurses with Daniel.

“Well, if you two would mind stepping out of the room for a moment, I need to examine Daniel and run some tests.” Dr. Warner commanded. “Maybe you would both like to go get a shower and some food while waiting.”

“See ya later Daniel.” Sam said as she bent over and kissed Daniel on the lips.

“That goes for me too.” Freya said as she also kissed Daniel on the lips.

“And don’t think to leave me out…” Anise said as she kissed Daniel on the lips as well.

All both women turned and walked out together waving behind them. The nurses stopped what they were doing and kept looking from Daniel to the retreating figures of the Major and Tok’ra. Dr. Warner only shook his head and thought to himself that Daniel was the luckiest man alive, God help him.
